HUNTER PACES in NJ/NY/CT/PA

I just completed 2 Windy Hollow Hunt Club hunter paces this month. Does anyone know of any other hunter paces coming up for the NJ/NY/CT/PA area? I’m in New York’s Hudson Valley but I don’t mind traveling a couple of hours.

In CT most will be adertised in steedread.com I don’t know if the online version of the monthly is as complete as the print version found in tack stores. You can find them online and get them to send you copies. In tack stores, its free, but many many events are listed in it, severala months prior to the even.

Bump (Because I’m curious too!)

Hunter Pace in NY

Hi I know there is a hunter pace on June 21 at the Putnam County 4-H Fairgrounds in Carmel, Ny. Let me know if you would like more information.

Here is a link you can take a look at www.putnamhorsecouncil.com

Golden’s Bridge has some lovely ones, some in North Salem and some near Amenia, NY. And Rombout Hunt, too - theirs is usually near Ancramdale, in Columbia County - a very beautiful setting.

Yea, unfortunatly my horse for the summer being off for the winter is going to be way to fat still to make the goldens bridge hunter pace (Which is one of my favorites especially since i live there!)

Do they still force you to ride down that rocky hill there? It was a fun pace and well run but, honestly, that single part made me very nervous and doubtful that I would return. (This was back in 2004, I think. The hill just seemed crazy steep with huge boulders and rocks sticking up all over the place. I am sure it would be fine going for an endurance horse but I was riding a clunky, wussy warmblood.)

Bedford’s spring pace is tomorrow - probably too soon to be useful for the OP but they also have a fall pace.

NY hunter paces

Limestone Creek Hunt just had one on May 30th and will have another one September 12th, in Cazenovia, NY. They are always fantastic. http://www.limestonecreekhunt.org/LCH_Calendar.html

There is 2 in DeRuyter,NY August 1st and October 10th to benefit the Tioughnioga Ruritan. http://www.hunter-pace.com/ We went to this one for the first time last year and loved it.

Amwell Valley in NJ has hunter paces. I haven’t done one in a few years, but it was well run and lots of fun last time I went.

Tyrone Farm/Pomfret Hunter pace is the place to go. its a ton of fun, the estate is absolutely stunning, and the food is just lovely. its a blast year after year. You ride on old rail road beds (the “Airline trail”), through private estates and on old carriage roads that lead through the woods. truly a very neat experience

Amwell Valley Hunter Pace July 12th

This Sunday finally Amwell Valley will hold another great hunter pace at Hillsborough CC! Come out and have some fun. Great country and jumps with go arounds. Roading will start soon so check out website avhounds.com

try adjacent paces

NJ

also monmouth county hunt usually holds a couple in the fall, too.
and although not sponsored by the hunt, the lord stirling stables has a fun hunter pace on september 13, 20009. that’s in basking ridge, right off of rt 287, and the amwell valley trail association (AVTA) has one coming up on october 14, 2009. same area as that utilized by the amwell valley hounds.

I like these - Bekenrah (one of Rombout’s) is gorgeous… 40 mile views, woods and fields, big swooping hills, and nice variety of permanent jumps, including a water feature… really nice folks, too.

Well, its not a hunterpace per se, but The Old Chatham Hunt Club is having a Poker Ride (which also has the bonus of possibly winning some money!) on Sunday September 27th. The track is lovely, excellent jumps, and the most amazing food. Here is the flyer for it, I hope you join us!

there is a benefit ride this sunday

at the stewart (stuart?) state forest in ny state (near chester ny). i’ve ridden there w/ a friend. what a great area to ride in.
no formal attire, since it’s not sponsored by a hunt but i would highly recommend it
