Hunter Paces / Paper Chases SC, NC, GA ?

Anything going on in the Carolinas or Georgia this time of year?

Want to just get out and about. Hunter Pace or anything!

How far do you want to travel? Here are a few sites you can check here in NC:

Once I found a really great site listing many of the hunter paces in NC in several different areas of the state, but now I can’t find it

Red Mountain Hounds has a hunter pace coming next Saturday, May 31st. www.redmountainhounds.com. We usually have over 100 riders and lots of fun!

Jump one: I think the series you are talking about is the Western Carolina Hunter Pace Series??

Yadkin Valley’s hunter paces are FABULOUS. Great people, gorgeous country, wonderful jumps…it’s heaven!!! Best $15 you can spend on a horse outing…

It could be, but over a year ago I found a great site that listed many of the hunt clubs and hunter paces in all of NC - then I got a new computer and didn’t transfer my old bookmarks/favorites!

So perhaps it is that one (since I did find it to post the link above ;)) or is there site with links to all the hunt clubs in NC? I’ll have to search further.

I do have to choose a hunter pace to attend soon - so hard to get my little group together to agree on dates!
Although it is nice to have a group

Jump One: Where are you at in NC?

It IS so much more fun to have a group!!! I can’t ever get a group together. Most of the ladies that I board with would love to, but our schedules never mesh!

Yadkin Valley sounds great, but its almost four hours from me… :frowning:

Greensboro area.

Since you are 4 hours from the Yadkin Valley, I assume you are a few hours from me also.

We have a great little group, all riding abilities, our only problem (besides scheduling) is that most of us don’t have our own horses! Two are in the market, and one has a still-green ottb. We do have access to some great horses at our barn - so we are determined to make some hunter paces this summer.

caroina low country

there are a couple of women in the low countryof SC who are just starting up some hunter paces. will try to find out where you can contact them. one asked me the other day but my horse is too wussie.

Sounds great, please keep us posted!!

My barn owners are members of the Low Country Hunt who have a couple more Hunter Paces this year in SC. Here’s their site: http://www.thelowcountryhunt.com/

Jess

Very cool, will check it out!!!

I went to one a couple weeks ago out in Walterboro and had a blast. It was at a plantation so it didn’t have any jumps, but the scenery was just gorgeous. The horses seemed to enjoy it out there a lot too. Hope you get to come!

Yadkin Valley

I attended my first Yadkin Valley Hunt Trail Ride Today and it was absolutely fabulous. We did the moderate time and mostly trotted but walked at the end when our horses were tuckered out with the heat. The trails were through the woods, through fields, up and down hills (some sizable), across water, up and down ditches, and included about a nice variety of jumps. Pretty inviting jumps I might add. I highly recommend if you are in the area to attend. From Davidson, it took us only about 1 hour. Such nice people. I hunted in Virginia with a couple of different hunts for quite a few years and can say that I had a very good time today with Yadkin Valley.

Lookng forward to the next one - they are twice a month on Sundays- Darden

edited to add - it was like 5 miles long.

I have had my eye on the Western NC paces for some time - my boy is just a show ring hunter (rolls eyes) and I’m trying to widen his horizens. I have limited space to ride him outside a ring. He’s a good smart boy and not a young thing, but he tends to get a little freaky in big open spaces, with or without other horses (read: runs off :o I love that sig line somebody has: He wasn’t running off I just couldn’t stop him!) He will steer though when he takes off, so I figure on a pace I can keep him from running INTO anything or anybody, so just let him run til he gets tired out, after a mile or two he’ll stop  I’m still not quite sure this is safe enough, so I just keep turning over the idea. And he does keep getting better in my limited pasture. I think going in the hot is also a better idea though than in the cool fall.

Who, what when and where was this?

Hey - I actually posted the website a few posts up. I can’t remember the name of the specific plantation off the top of my head, but it’s put on by The Low Country Hunt. I missed the one they had last week since my horse was out of commission, but they have one Sept 20th that’s supposed to be awesome! Feel free to PM me if you’d like some more info.
