I have a client interested in a young horse in the Culpepper area, so we’re planning a trip down. While we’re there, we’d like to take advantage of our time to see as many as we can. So, any recommendations as to farms to call, that might have a few to look at? She’s looking for something unstarted, not picky as to breed, just needs to be on the taller side, as she is 6’ herself. Tx!
I recommend Alva Glen Sporthorses in Gordonsville. I bought a horse from her, she’s super honest and has a lot of sale horses to look at, younger and older. She has a facebook page, or her number is (540) 661-1088. I also recommend Greenstone Farm (greenstonefarm.com) in Culpeper. I bought a weanling from them, and he’s pretty neat. I don’t know their current sale horses, but they used to have older horses as well.
Thanks! Greenstone is already on the list of farms to contact. And I’ll add Alva Glen as well!
Sally Lamb at Oakland Heights. Not only does she have her own, she also knows many area barns that may have something. My other thought would be Kristy Willwerth in Warrenton. She always has horses coming into her farm. Depending on your budget, Chad a Keenum and Paige Cade aren’t far away either.
SIx Pound Farm (Tracey Geller) has some nice hunter jumper bred youngsters and is located in the southern part of Va. She has a facebook page and website.
I would second Picturesque Farm, Kristy always has nice consignment horses. And I agree, with a healthy budget Paige and Chad are within distance to see some nice imports and get your times worth.

Second Chad Keenum. He’s recently moved to Upperville, and it depends on your budget, but he has some very nice horses and has always been extremely friendly.
FWIW Chad Keenum was suspended for six months in 2017. https://www.chronofhorse.com/article…uspension-gaba
Catherine Ellis. Easy drive. Worth it.
Paige has a few very nice ones that just landed. See above re: Chad’s suspension.
She had some nice ones on her website recently - I too am on the hunt but want something smaller - around 15 hands, all arounder type.
