Hunter shadbelly for dressage? X-post from dressage forum

For anyone who has experience in both disciplines:

What are the differences between dressage & hunter shadbellies, other than the weighted tails? Could one make a hunter shadbelly work for dressage? Can weighted tails be added? Anything else that would need to be changed? Thanks for your help!

Hunter shads have rounded tails, dressage shads have square tails. I believe the buttons are different also, but of course that is an easy fix.

Tail shape and buttons are different. I have heard that dressage tails are frequently weighted or lined with leather as well, whereas I’ve never seen a hunter shadbelly with either of those.

Thanks, guys! Buttons are an easy fix, weights could be added to tails, but I don’t know how I could change tail shape!
