Hunting company?

Hi, folks. Just tried out foxhunting (once) this year, and after the expense of getting fit and brushing up on my jumping via lots of lessons, I kinda want to try it again a few times. Don’t have my own horse, but have found a few hunts that can provide horses. Anybody else keen to try this out who might want to take a few long weekends or week long trips to try hunting? I’ve found possibilities in Va, Co, Tx, NC, Nv, Ca. Can pm me if you like.

Might be a fun way to meet some cothers

There is sometimes a COTH get together over a weekend at Hunter’s Rest. One day I shall get to go to one! They sound like a blast.

Come out to Montana to hunt with Big Sky Hounds or come the 3rd weekend of April when Lynn Lloyd is here with her pack for 3 days. Kail and Renee Mantle of Montana Horses have a lot of livery horses. A number of BSH members have leased their horses for hunt season. Big beautiful galloping country. Kail usually leads the 2nd flight/hill toppers and they sometimes have the best views!!! We’re a fun crowd that doesn’t get too hung up on being absolutely proper. If Montana is too far, then definitely check out Red Rock Hounds (BSH is the child of RRH!). That is fabulous country also and TONS of jumps!! http://www.redrockhounds.com/

Don’t overlook hunting in New Mexico! Check out Caza Ladron and Juan Tomas.

I see a road trip building…

Whohoo! Thanks for the tips. I hope to get a couple trips planned.

What ever you do, it should be fun!

If you want more info on Hunting in NV (Red Rock Hounds), please feel free to PM me. There are quite a few of us RRH’ers on here. I worked for Lynn and Angela for YEARS, and they are generally thought of as my second family (though now I am in TX). I would love to help you out with them!

They are SUCH a blast.

He hunts in several hunt in that area.
Highly recommended!

My sisters and I were lucky enough to ride with the Big Sky Hounds group this summer and it was tremendous fun! Spectacular country, lovely people, and extremely nice livery horses. It wasn’t hunting season so I can’t say what their hunts are like (probably not as “proper” as east coast hunting–as Mountainbells suggested) but I can’t help but think it would be quite an experience.
