Hunting near Calgary?

As I’ve posted in Off Course, my husband and I are looking at moving to Calgary. Currently we’re travelling, but we live in New Zealand.

So is there hunting around Calgary? If so, what kind? Live or drag? Big open country? Lots of jumping or not much? When and how long is the season? Is membership expensive? Anything else I should know?

I believe there is a Calgary Hunt Club- I don’t really know anything about them but I found a short description and some contact information here, as well as information about other equestrian organizations in Alberta. I also found a little youtube video - looks like fun!

Thanks YEG, that’s a really helpful page of links. Looks like there’s so much to do there. While my focus lately has been hunting and show jumping I love trail riding and camping with the horses too.
