Hunting Near Pensacola

I’ll be moving to the Pensacola, Florida area next fall/winter and I was hoping someone could tell me which hunts would have fixtures closest to Pensacola that would welcome a newcomer. I live in Missouri now but I’m joining the Air Force and after I get out of Basic Training I’ll be in Pensacola for at least a year, possibly longer but almost certainly not long term.

This has been my first season fox hunting and I’ve had a blast. My horse has proven herself to be a wonderful field hunter and everyone here has been so helpful and welcoming!

Any suggestions on hunt clubs and boarding stables would be appreciated!

It depends on how far you want to drive. There are some in AL/MS that are fast and friendly.

I am pretty sure there are some out near Tallahassee, but that is about three hours drive from Pensacola. The owner of Flying Colors Farm, who also posts on COTH, foxhunts her beautiful horses. Her farm is located around Tallahassee. You may want to try to get in touch with her. I think she posts as FlyingColorsFarm. Good luck!

Thanks for the leads! I don’t mind travelling, I’m an hour and a half drive from our main fixture now. I was hoping there’d be a hunt a little closer than ee hours but if that’s the closest than I guess we’re just going to have to get up even earlier!

The Tallahassee hunt that Ex-Race-Owner is referring to is Live Oak Hounds, Monticello, FL, NE of Tallahassee - between Tallahassee, FL and Thomasville, GA. It is a wonderfully active hunt with plenty of social events and fabulous people. Excellent hunting territory - first rate all around!
