Hybrid Rope Halter Reviews?

Title says it all; anyone using this?

Have had really good experiences with using a rope halter, both in hand and under saddle (actually, particularly under saddle). This is kind of a neat idea - I like the look and daily functionality of this one. I don’t reckon you’d get the same result under saddle in this. However, on the ground, has anyone used it in lieu of a fully rope halter and had comparable results?

I would, incidentally, opt for the leather or breakaway option. Thank you in advance for any input!

I love mine! It has quality construction and it looks great, too. Best of both worlds.

I like them a lot too! I have an economy one and a higher-end nylon one (which I found on eBay). I added a leather breakaway fuse to both for safety. I love that you get the best of both worlds. I actually like the economy one better because IMO the rope under the chin and throatlatch doesn’t add much, and is a little too loose (might just be the way it fits my particular horse).

I can’t believe I have owned horses for this long and not heard of this – seems pretty cool, and I might try it for the barn help. They have trouble tying a rope halter knot.

A separate aside, I have always used a soft rope halter, and then, because my current guy is a bit pushy, I got one of the stiffer 4 knot rope halters – it worked better, but I didn’t like how stiff it felt. Then my farrier suggested the “buck brannaman” version of a rope halter sold by Double Diamond – it is slightly thinner diameter, but two knot and very soft. I didn’t think it would make a difference, but what the heck… and my horse responds to this so much better. I can’t logically explain why, but I’ll take it, lol.

Another fan here. I won’t put anything else on my horse. You know, she is good 99% of the time but that 1% she sometimes thinks she is the leader, it works well. She has been much better in the Hybrid–we are down to maybe 0.5%…or less. Love it for lunging and in-hand work. It stays so nicely centered on the face and the nose piece does not get pulled off center. I have a nylon one and sprung for a leather one for going places . At my barn there are a couple teenagers that have helped me with Kyra when I have had some surgeries and I bought them each an economy one.
They love theirs too.

I have a large size nylon one and I added a leather breakaway, otherwise it wouldn’t fit the WBs head… anyway, works great!

Yes, I like it too. I wanted a black or brown nylon one with a leather crown piece. The rep didn’t have one in large, so they sold me a leather one for the nylon price. Score! My big guy can get a little…um…over-eager at fimes, and that little extra “knock it off” from the rope nose band really helps.

I love mine. I splurged and got the leather one, and added a nameplate. All the positives of a rope halter, but easy to put on like a leather/nylon halter.

We use them at the therapeutic riding center. Easy for everyone to use, and we can snap reins right to the halter rings. Obviously none of these horses are difficult in hand. It’s a very nice solution and I like them better than an old-school rope halter especially for a situation where you have lots of people using the equipment, because they’re easy to fit and they stay put.
