HydroKeep or Mag Chloride?

My sand/rubber dressage arena (outdoor) has gotten very dusty. Since we will most likely be putting the place on the market at some point in the near future, I don’t want to go to the expense of completely changing out the footing.

I inquired about Mag Chloride, and after a lengthy conversation, the gentleman said “Just don’t water it.” I told him there was no way to keep rain off it, and he told me he thought I was talking about an indoor – and then the story changed a bit and he said it would be fine, but I would need to add more periodically.

So, I am also looking into Hydro Keep, and was hoping some on here could share your experiences with both methods of dust control! Thanks in advance.

Once footing with mag chloride on it gets wet, the mag is useless. I don’t believe it is at all appropriate for an outdoor arena.

We tried Hydro-keep. Very underwhelmed…

Mag Chloride will get washed out, so it’s not really viable solution for outdoor. We are going to try ArenaKleen the next. Not cheap, but they seem very knowledgeable. They are actually the ones to help us to decipher the sieve analysis provided by the quarry.
