How much does everyone give? I do have what my vet gave me for a dosage but am just wondering where it lies compared to what others give.

For my 1,000 pound gelding I have been giving 6 to 8 pills twice daily with good results. The bugs have been very bad.
The human dose is 10mg-50mg per dose. Most people just use it at night for itching. The Merck manual might have a dose range for horses.
My vet recommended a “more aggressive dose to start” of 2 capsules twice daily and my gelding had a reaction to it so we had to take him down to 1 capsule twice daily. Maybe check to see the potency you have been prescribed.
Since it is prescribed by weight different critters will end up with different doses. So be careful when comparing.

Interesting. So he is 1300 lbs or 590 kgs. So a top dosage to give him would be about 600 mgs?
Vet has me giving him two 500 mg compounded scoops for a total of 1,000 mgs a day.
Mine is getting one or two 250mg capsules a day. Depending on how his allergies are doing. It’s been two during the hot, humid heatwaves.

2 to 4 times a day, correct?
I give 300mg twice a day to a 1300# horse as per veterinarian directions.
Mine gets 10 pills 2x a day, not sure of the strength of the pills though. I asked if we could wean the dosage down but the vet said that was the standard dose.
