I am cursed to ruin all muck boots

Well, it has been a nice two months, but my new muck boots have finally given up and flood with every step. I am not sure where the leak is, but I hear a great ‘squish’ every time I take a step, and the footbed is somehow soaked despite no water going down the boot.

These boots are fairly new, bought last year for my boyfriend when he helped at the barn, but only really used once a week for a month or two. When my last pair of muck boots somehow acquired holes in the heel (really!) I took his boots hoping the curse wouldn’t apply to boots that weren’t mine. No such luck.

The first pair were original ‘Muck’ Brand boots, which lasted maybe two years of on/off use before I ruined them. This pair was Noble Brand ‘stay cool’ muck boots that while super comfy, didn’t last long. I must be the worlds most aggressive walker because I always blow out the heel, the footbed, or crack them due to how I’m walking. Who knows.

Does anyone have any suggestions of boots I might not be able to destroy in two months? Preferably comfy, and warm is an extra bonus, but at this point I’ll take durability over warmth. I walk around 10 miles a day, and rarely take care to not step in puddles, so waterproof and ability to walk distance in them is a must. I’ll also take commiseration as I’m so upset to have ruined yet another pair of boots😭

I buy a new pair of (name brand) Muck Boots for about $80 on sale every year, usually in the Black Friday sales. This year it was Tractor Supply, in the past Dick’s Sporting Goods has had them on sale.

They last about a year before they begin to leak, usually from a crack where they bend as you walk, but I wear them daily, pretty much every time I go outside. By that time I’ve worn out the lining and they are ruining my socks at the heel anyway.

So if you got two years out of Muck Boots before, why not go back to them?

(I also bought a pair of Noble short rubber boots, they started leaking after only a few months and are off my list.)

Weird! I have a pair of “Muck” boots, the chore boots to be exact, and they have been fantastic. Over 4 years, almost daily use fall, winter, spring, through thick mud and all that comes with chores at home, and working at barns. They are still going strong. Would absolutely buy another pair again if these ones ever do succumb. I’ve never ever had such a sturdy boot, and I’ve tried all kinds. (and no I don’t work for the company!!!lol)
I wish my Ariats would hold up as long, although I wear those mostly for riding, but they do get trashed walking through the mud, etc, getting the horses.

I think mine have lasted longer when I go a size up. But I also have a thing about not liking tight shoes, tight clothes, etc. Some people might not like having shoes that are a bit “sloppy” in sizing.

There was a thread on this recently, and REED brand boots were reccommended. I personally don’t tend to wear out boots, but DH can’t find much that lasts. SOREL brand were the best for him for a few years, but I got the Reed for him for V-Day and gave them to him early because of the crazy rain we are having in VA. Too soon to comment on the longevity, but the early impressions are that they are very sturdy and well fitting.

Muck boots last me maybe a year at most. Lesser brands last a couple months at best. They always spring holes along the inside of my foot.

Mine are like these, are super nice comfortable and warm.
We really don’t have that much wet or snow, not like all day snow and mud for months.

For years I just bought the cheap black Walmart rubber boots and those lasted a few years each pair.
After reading about these new fancier ones, I tried that pair and they are really nice on your feet and have up to now lasted well.

Following for more ideas.

Are you in Florida? I can’t get boots to last more than 3-4 months here, it’s absurd.
I’m currently using waterproof hiking boots, but even those the waterproofing is no longer working after a couple weeks. But, the boot actually stays together longer. Several brands of equestrian-specific muck boots I’ve tried, after about 2 months just completely fall apart. Soles fall off.
Rubber rain boot types all give me hellacious blisters on my heels. I have to wear two pairs of socks with them, which annoys me to go through so many pairs of socks each week. So my current routine is, hiking boots for normal work. Rubber rain boots if it is still wet out from rain or is currently raining. It’s working out okay, but if I could get a pair of boots to even last a year I’d be ecstatic.
