I am definitely moving out of my comfort zone --or doing something I will regret later .

Yesterday I scheduled a lesson for Bob and me with the local cow horse instructor. Bob and I will have an hour with him and a cow (or two or three --maybe a herd) learning some cow work. I have never done this before.

Bob has.

Good parts are that a talented cow working gal pal will come with me, the cow place is only 30 min from my house, and we are close to a trauma center.

As soon as I verified all details with the cow instructor, I had a feeling of, “oh, my goodness --what have I done?”

I suppose the worse that can happen is we get there and chicken out --paying for a lesson we don’t take . . .I am sure once I am on Bob, I will have more confidence.

One. Cow. At. A. Time.

Did I mention I am over 70?

Cow action is 11/11 --hope to post update 11/12 . . .

Pix of Bob last summer with his cow-girl who took him to cow camp and worked cows with him for 3 days . . .

You are going to have fun! The hardest part will be learning to read the cows reacting to you.

It is a lot of fun and slower is quite often faster with cattle so it should be low key.

Of all the discplines, THIS one makes you worry about injury?
& I say this having sat on both a Cutting Horse & a ChicOLena-bred Reiner.
“Sat”, not actually worked :grimacing:
But the Cutter nearly gave me whiplash following the mechanical calf-on-a-track & the Reiner about spun me out of the saddle!
Both times, I was saved by the horn!

Go!
Have a blast!
Report back here… With pics :sunglasses:
Bob will take care of you :two_hearts::horse:

Have a great time. It sounds like a ton of fun.

I think your biggest regret would be not going! Go and have fun! Share pictures.
