I bought a couple of Noble panel horse shelters. What's the best way to anchor them?

It gets very windy here. Has anyone had experience using Duckbill earth anchors for this purpose?

Did you talk to the Noble people directly? I bet they can suggest something. I don’t have the shelters myself, but have contacted Noble for info on other products and they’ve always been really helpful. Of course, this being a holiday weekend, might not get anyone in the office until Tuesday. But here’s the website:[URL=“http://noblepanels.com”]

ETA, I see on the website that they sell an anchor kit, so that might be worth exploring.

We have tried other, but the best is to dig a good sized post hole, we use the 10" auger, but 8" may do.
Drop a piece of a larger chain, with something crossways on it at the bottom, a larger bolt, that can work as an anchor end.
Fill the hole with concrete mix as you pour water.
Weld or tie the chain to the shelter, maybe around the corner post or runner.
One on each end, four of them.

When we tried the mobile home 3’ cock-screw anchors they sell for that, the first big wind we had, 60mph, those anchors sheared right at the ground and two sheds went tumbling away.

Now, yours may not be where the wind really blows and may not need serious tying down.

We have had 110 mph winds and our shelters didn’t budge.
One tornado went thru them and it took the roof off one, but the anchors held up just fine.

The Klene Pipe people recommend cement filled postholes in the ground for anchoring as well, once you get into the triple wide sizes. We are on a ridge top and things regularly fly off- shingles, buckets, plants in plastic pots, so we are going with the cement.

For us, it takes 2 1/2 to 3 concrete mix sacks per hole.
You pour the stuff out of the sacks as you pour water on it and it self mixes in the hole and the concrete sets well without you needing to mix it in something and then pouring it in the hole, like for a concrete pad.

Thanks guys. We do get some pretty good winds here as we’re on an island and very close to the water. I will anchor the crap out of the shelters, as I don’t want to be a nervous wreck every time it gets gusty.

funny you would post this

I am looking for something very similar! Curious to know which island you are on? I am on Oahu, and will be boarding at Dillingham, but need something jus tike what noble sells to put in my 1 acre paddock, proving they cannot get my modular barn put out there.

Would you mind sharing how much yours cost and what shipping and friend ran? Worried about the wind too, being close to the ocean on the north shore of hawaii!

Noble sells anchor kits. It gets very windy here and the kits are adequate

I have a horse at Dillingham:)

allanglos, I think i met your horse. A little chestnut gelding, right?
I just moved out here from Georgia, and after looking up your website, I think I remember now. My friend tried to put me in touch with you ( i think it was you?), she pointed me to your inverted Y website. I think i tried to contact you on Facebook, but never got through. Anyway, we are here. Moving my horse, a giant 18h wb Grandprix dressage horse. He is miserable with the limited turnout in waimanalo. Although its a nice barn, its just not cutting the mustard.
