So glad you had such a nice visit with her! Unfortunately, it’s hard to find that kind of turnout/living situation in Massachusetts, but she certainly is thriving.
She is a little fat! But absolutely loving this life. I wish I could bring her back but this is what she needs.
While I was in Michigan, most of the “pretty trees” in my part of New England lost their leaves. But there’s this one, where I often take Feronia to graze.
What a great smile!
Rebecca
You both look wonderful!
Her name was Lola. She was a showgirl…
She’s found her Copacabana. Well done you for giving it to her. Glad to see her so happy.
Lola and her friend. Yes Lola’s grooming her; Lola is really into grooming her friends, horse or human.
I’m visiting her in May.
(This is a screenshot, not video.)
One more. She is soooo good with kids. Anne trusted Lola to stay still while her little friend cooed over her.
Loving your photos of Lola, she really seems to be enjoying the children’s attention!
Oh she loves kids! She’s just a bit too green and a bit too spooky to make a good kids pony. The place I bought her from did use her in lessons and had a talented 12 year old girl ride for her sales videos.
ETA: in a big group lesson, my bet is that Lola would be less likely to spook. When she’s with her buddies, not much phases her. Unless her buddies all spook, of course!
Lola is such a pretty girl!
I’m in Michigan visiting Lola and I got to trail ride! Lola was good but it really does take about 10 minutes for both of us to settle down. And she’s still trying to eat her reins, the crossties, her bit, etc. She’s very good - slightly jiggy at times, especially going home, but easy to sit and not likely to do anything stupid. She did jump over a fallen tree or two when I wasn’t expecting it, although in one case, she stepped on a small branch just before and it goosed her in the belly, so I really can’t blame her.
The buckskin mare farther ahead, also one of Anne’s, decided to be naughty but her rider, who is quite elderly, handled it fine. Who knows why; she was perfect in October. And Anne was on her Immortal Command daughter, who hadn’t been ridden in several years, and maybe ridden 6 or 7 times in her life. She’s a big powerhouse of a mare, and wanted to be out front. They are on the left of the 2 horses out front.
ETA: the buckskin is the dam of the mare Anne rode. I think she took after her sire; at the very least she’s huge compared to her dam.
Later on, Lola wanted a mutual grooming session. Or a peppermint. She’s the most orally fixated horse I ever met! Luckily she’s very gentle.
More Lola. And yes the stirrups on that saddle were way short!
She got a little thin over the winter but I think she’s just about at a perfect weight now. I’ve lost 18 pounds which feels much better for her.
She really is lovely and reminds me of a stallion my Uncle had way far back in the day (born 1962) By either Hillcrest Leader or Orcland Leader, I forget. He was small 14 hands but had a big presence.
Anne likes the older show bloodlines like the Orcland and Waseeka horses (Lola has 9 crosses to Waseekas Nocturne.) They tend to be short and sturdy.
