I have a question about stallion approvals

I’ve been researching the different studbooks and how to figure out what book to register foals in. And I’ve got a question about the stallions (mostly just a curiosity).

Hypothetically - If you had, say, a GOV approved stallion, what other studbooks would accept him and register his foals without requiring he be reinspected?

For example, Westfalen NA website states they accept stallions “licensed by other recognized breeding organizations” and studbook sBs likewise seems to accept those “approved by a foreign Studbook” so - Does that mean any approved stallion (no matter who approved him) can, by extension, have Westfalen or Belgian babies without ever being presented to them?

It’s actually a really difficult question to answer in a generality as there will be different answers based on things like 1) the stallion’s pedigree 2) their approval status - licensed or fully approved and 3) sport record.

Some of the registries offer options for offspring out of mares approved in their studbook and by stallions approved from acceptable outside books to be entered into their studbook without the sire being ‘approved’ by them. Other registries have similiar options but the offspring may be limited to a lower or separate book within the studbook.

There can sometimes be an approval option for stallions into a studbook without re-presenting if they meet all the requirements for pedigree, sport record, x-rays, etc and are already approved by another major registry but this is limited to only a few registries that I know of - more generally the language you reference above is referring to eligiblity to be presented for inspection.
