I need my horse hauled!

looking for someone to haul my horse from Washington to Ohio. I have contracted several shippers but no one can haul until mid October and I’m looking to get her moved ASAP. Anyone have any personal recommendations besides brook ledge and equine elite?

I think Phil May just hauled a Make A Wish horse to somewhere out west and will be coming back east. He is a good guy, a rider himself and an old time horseman who can handle just about anything. Not cheap but he is super reliable and knowledgeable so you get what you pay for.

You could see if he can help. I only have his cell but you can look him up on Facebook for more info. Or just give him a call at 262 620 4846.

I can recommend Yoder Equine Transport but I think it is unrealistic to expect a big commercial hauler to satisfy your short lead-time. Their whole business model depends on filling large trailers with multiple horses traveling similar paths. Washington is pretty “out there”, chances are slim that they’d find other horses in your vicinity to haul to the midwest on short notice.

If it’s that urgent, then you might offer to pay for the whole truck. Else, you need to adjust your expectations to a realistic timeline. With Yoder, I gave him 6 weeks notice, but he was able to pull together a good itinerary in 4 weeks. Or, try U-Ship (but you’d be working with unknown carriers).

You can try the hitch my horse a ride facebook page. There are smaller haulers on there that may be more flexible. They will likely not be as luxurious as the top tier but many have reviews and a lot of experience.

This might be too hard, but Arabian Sporthorse Nationals are going on in Nampa, ID starting this weekend and lasting until next week. Some horses from Ohio will be there. I’m going from Oregon. Where are you in Washington? But I’m leaving in the middle of the night on Saturday.

If you go on the FB group, Arabian Sporthorse Alliance and post what you are looking for, you might find a ride. I think there was someone posting about having an open spot going from Nampa back east somewhere. I think the post was from yesterday or the day before. Scroll down before the first day of WEG.

Your horse has a Coggins and Health Certificate that will let him cross state lines all the way to Ohio, right?

If you do do this Nampa thing, know that this horse show ends next Saturday. You can call their office (the Ford Center) to reserve a stall. You could shorten up the time you spent there by seeing if you could find someone to bring your horse just to Nampa and then have him go with someone else the rest of the way back to Ohio.

Marvin has gotten me in within a week once and within 3 weeks the next time, but I was coming Midwest to east coast, I don’t know how frequently he drives past his home base to Washington.

I was just at the stall reservation site, there are six stalls remaining at this time
