I ordered a DoggieLawn-and the cats love it!

Thanks to Shark Tank (the tv show) I heard about these living dog pee pads. (this isn’t the exact brand that was on Shark Tank but it was closer to me) I have a chi cross that freezes her tail off most of the year in Montana and she’s started to lie about her status and sneak off to leave deposits in unapproved areas.

Probably this isn’t the best time of year but maybe the fact that we’re just starting to have green grass again outside will coincide with a square of it being in the house. And I was interested to see what the cats would make of it.

It gets good reviews online; I’ll report back.

They are so expensive if each one only lasts two weeks.

I personally use washable human bed pads for my old dog, and they each last for years. I occasionally spray the backing with silicon waterproofing spray.

My little dog won’t go on anything but hard floor or grass. She by-passes the pads or anything else I put down. I’m hoping that if the sod works I can prolong its life. At least my dog is tiny, I don’t need a big size.

Someone on here once said that chi’s were tactile peers; it had to feel “right” to their feet… and apparently mine is set to “floor” or “grass”.

And since she’s a Montana dog, she knows all about peeing on DEAD grass so I’m not so worried about every two weeks!

I hope it works. And, if it does, I wonder if you could get some boxes of approximately the same size, fill them with dirt and seed them with a fast growing grass yourself, on a cyclical basis? It would certainly be cheaper, and, if I recally correctly, you’ve enough property to just dump the used boxes. Let the used soil sit for a year or so, and you could probably re-use.

I’ve thought about DIY and if she seems to take to the idea, I will. Sod is impossible to find for much of the year but planting our own would be cheap and easy.

This dog! how spoiled are we?

This sentence cracked me up!

She’s a goof, good thing she’s so cute!

It showed up-so far it’s proving to be a fascination to the cats and she thought it was all very interesting but doesn’t have to go. Yet. So she said…

There is a contraption called Piddle Place that is reusable and washable. It uses “phony” turf/grass with a tray underneath to collect the urine. The bottom tray collects the urine which is treated with a solution similar to what would be used in a motorhome toilet. You just then dump the bottom tray periodically. I have not tried this so I cannot attest to how well it works. I don’t have a small dog, and my two giant dogs have access to a fenced-in area through a dog door to the backyard.

So far, so good. I haven’t seen her actually use it but there are no messes where she usually goes when she’s caught in the house. It was cold enough to snow here yesterday so she didn’t want to go outside at all. I’m cautiously happy with it!

Where can I find these? I see many large ones on Amazon, but I only need a small one. Perhaps I could cut one in half? Don’t know why I didn’t think of that, such a good idea. My husband’s tiny little dog really doesn’t like to go out…I know, I know…

I found those once at a Salvation Army store… my dog wouldn’t use them b/c she’s not trained or open to using them but I used them for the nutty cat I mentioned in the other post. (Pee Management is my life)

Maybe look at rubberized crib sheets for babies? Baby dept of any walmart. Now that I think about it, this dog of mine might go for them b/c they lay flat and heavy and she likes to pee on a hard floor. gads.

Today I saw two of the cats peeing on the “doggielawn”. Ok, I guess?

I am interested to hear how it goes. My little guy will be staying with my SO for almost a month and I’m going to try this out because little guy has never had to hold it for an 8 hour work day. I am going to do an oil changing tray with sod put in it. Hadn’t occurred to me that sod may be hard to find. I’ll definitely look into that.

I’ve had this for not quite a week. So far, the dog is using it and so are the cats. They poo in their litter box and pee on the grass. ? ok kitties. But the grass doesn’t smell, is alive and healthy and growing, looks clean and certainly is more attractive than the litter box.

The company just sent me a free one for doing an amazon review too. Considering what cat litter costs in addition to the dog issue, I’m pretty happy with this thing.
