Lovely project results!! Good job folks! I may make one myself, with those great examples and folks saying “it was pretty easy” in real life! Thanks for the ideas.
I was gifted a gorgeous live greenery horse head this Christmas. It is spectacular, made on chicken wire. Was told to keep the wire so it can be reused for next year. Cost is cheap, chicken wire and live greenery from Lowe’s for free, red ribbon and some bells.
Funny part is the person who gifted it to me is a friend who I was going to make her one this year! So instead I found a gorgeous hand made horse bracelet and will give her the wire head I bought off of Amazon so we can do the project together. She was wanting to learn for next year.
I made one but it didn’t turn out anywhere near as nice as yours so I will skip the pic. I might tear it apart and try again next year as there seems to be a bit of a learning curve.
So I finished one more but was too late for the actual Christmas so I made it kind of a “winter” motif instead. I made it smaller to fit on a regular size door since it was a gift for someone in town (no gate to hang it on!). I figure it can stay out all winter since it isn’t Christmas-y.
I wanted to stock up on garland for next year, so I tried to find some today with the after Christmas sales, but the good stuff seems to be in short supply. I’ll try real greenery next year too, since I’m surrounded by an endless supply for free!
I finally got around to making mine. Here are the results: https://www.facebook.com/sarah.pojanowski/posts/10205439637172384:1
I used the frame linked from Amazon above, some “deluxe” garland I got on clearance after Christmas, and some fake berries for the mane. Oh, and cable tied on a pine cone for the eye. My kids did the cable ties, so it is five year old proof!
