I was awarded my Colors!

Daatje, Congrats!

PW, I went strictly cheap so probably didn’t look awesome…first hunt, just added collar and buttons to existing melton and continued with plain black off the shelf boots…whined awfully when asked to get scarlet coat and etc for whipping in but managed to score a used coat off a retired master. Second hunt, I was whipping in and so just added colors to my scarlet coat, never bothered with my melton since I was also using it to hunt around as a guest (still kept buttons from first hunt on it though).

But I’ve always thought when you are galloping fast over hill and dale, watching the hounds, nobody’s gonna notice what you are wearing!

Congratulations…watch out, hunting is definately addictive!!! (speaking from experience)

Superb!

Congratulations on being initiated into the fraternity of foxhunting!!. You are carrying on a tradition that goes back even to the founding of this country. And just think…we are dressing & doing it the same way we have for hundreds of years. You have become one of us and now must carry on the traditions. Wateryglen bows low in admiration to you…have fun. Be safe and keep smiling! Learn & watch all you can; you’ll love it more every year!
Best wishes!

Thank-you all!

I feel like I have found my niche. I’ve done the hunters, the dressage, the eventing…but none of that fulfills me like a thrilling hunt. To hear the huntsman’s horn, to see the hounds pick up a scent and give voice, to gallop after them, negotiating terrain and obstacles…just thinking about it gives me goose bumps! It’s so thrilling to spend time with like minded horsemen and women. The deep traditions are fascinating and I’m learning more about it every day.

I am lucky to have a horse who has taken so well to this sport. When I bought her as an orphaned month-old filly I had no idea where we’d be nine years later. She is an angel. She loves the hounds, and is impeccably behaved in the field. I owe thanks to my horse, for carrying me to this honor…

Here’s a tip of the flask to many, many more years of good hunting!
