ICE Raid At Delta Downs

And since this thread has totally jumped the shark:

There was another country that rounded up “criminals” for the good of everyone else and sent them to a country not of their origin…

…Germany.

I beg to differ
" the U.S. Constitution applies to all individuals within the United States, including undocumented immigrants."

The extent of my involvement with the backside (I am just scrolling) is working as security at a track my first year out of college while trying to establish myself as a freelancer. This was about 7 years ago now that I worked there. Just want to chime in and note that everyone involved in racing, probably goes double for the track I was at as we weren’t a Churchill or Keeneland that holds a lot of higher level stakes and had high-end owners and trainers.

Just want to back-up that it is indeed a lot of work.

Sheesh, the reason I started learning Spanish when I had the chance to take some free online courses via my local library a couple years after that job (for some crazed reason teenage me wanted to be different than everyone else so I took French in HS for my language requirements) was because of working that job and wanting to be able to communicate with people because I know how lucky I am to have English as my native language but it’s not the easiest language for people who don’t have it as their native language to learn.

Not so. I’ve read multiple fact files off of gov’t websites that discuss the gov’t produced numbers they do have. Most of them off the SSA website. What the real number is; who knows, since no one actually wants to find out.

Despite the administration, they all agree illegal immigration is a big driver of SSN theft.

I think the horses are likely there for the 21st https://www.equibase.com/static/entry/RaceCardIndexDED062125USA-EQB.html

Spoiler alert, no million dollar races.

I drove an old (mid-90s model year in the later half of the 2010s, no longer have it) Honda Accord that looked like a bit of a beater towards the end of its life. Probably did get pulled over more for minor stuff (once got pulled over for a loud muffler but when I got it checked out later when I was able to, it did end up being too loud, still, kind of a tiny thing to get pulled over for. Been lucky that I’ve never yet gotten a ticket, knock on wood.) than I would’ve in a nicer, newer car.

The immigration “system” in the USA DOES NOT WORK. Law makers fail to rectify that situation, and then arrest victims of their own failings.

again who is to say the federal government didn’t already audit these situations and KNOW their documentation is fake.Y ou do not know the entirety of the story. Instead; everyone is making brash assumptions that the government is swooping in and rounding up random people like cattle. They know exactly who they are looking for.
Also, some of the delta downs employees DID have criminal records including sexual battery and unlawful reentry.

if El Salvador is looking for them because of gang related activities in their country, we sure can.

My cousin’s wife is from Korea. She is married to a US citizen, has a child that was born here, has a master’s degree in library science, is employed by a university, is very well off and her FIL (my uncle) retired at a very high rank from the Navy. She went through the US citizenship process (and is now a citizen) but found it extremely difficult and expensive. If someone like her, with every resource available to her, found the process hard to navigate, how on earth is someone whose who life has revolved around migrant agriculture supposed to do it?

The U.S. is basically renting a prison in El Salvador for the purpose of moving people arrested by ICE to a site out of the U.S. so that the U.S. government can then disclaim any responsibility for how they’re treated or for how their human and civil rights may have been violated.

It’s possible that some of the ICE detainees sent to El Salvador may be wanted for crimes in El Salvador, but that’s what extradition hearings are for. So that a person who has been arrested can face whatever claims and charges might be made against them and have an opportunity in open court to dispute them.

Herding people onto a plane within a day or two of their apprehension, after giving them notice (in English only) of their right to an attorney, does not adequately uphold their legal rights.

If they knew, they wouldn’t be picking up non criminal green card holders, temporary work status visa holders, and dammit, even a few US citizens who happen to not be white.

The men sent to CECOT? Only 6 out of 200+ were committed of violent crimes, and only 32 total had any US criminal convictions. 130 had no criminal record at all - no convictions or pending charges.

The way it’s working in the Boston area is that sometimes - but not always - identify a criminal as the target, but they’ll grab everyone in the targeted area who is a. brown and b. can’t show their papers. And they usually don’t get the criminal.

Don’t the individual trainers keep employment records on their people, including current immigration status? They should be able to furnish this information directly to the ICE people (if requested) and thus eliminate ICE’s need to just round everybody up, ship 'em out, and figure it out later.

And what is your basis for describing one individual’s opinion as “unbiased” other than his own claim to be so?
Particularly in this case, where he is being given the grand tour by an Arizona sheriff.
His own claim that these border crossings are “all orchestrated by the Mexican cartels” is ludicrous.

Who has thoughts on the next group that ICE will be ordered to prioritize after Hispanics are decimated? IMO it will be Asian immigrants, who will be vilified for displacing “real” Americans from small businesses and from educational institutions.

Four Democratic members of Congress from Illinois, Jesús “Chuy” García, Danny Davis, Delia Ramirez, and Jonathan Jackson, were denied entry to an ICE facility in Broadview, just outside Chicago, despite federal policy allowing them access without prior notice. The group waited nearly two hours, knocking and even pounding on the glass, but officials inside refused to respond.

@snaffle1987 is this ok with you?

And this thought absolutely terrifies me - my children are adopted immigrants from Korea and China. We have made sure our children have their passports, but you read stories where that isn’t enough and passports are confiscated and folks are held for days. From other stories, my kids only hope, if rounded up, is that they have an american accent. To those supporting this B*** S***, do you really think this makes us a free country where all persons are treated equally? Or just reverting back to our heritage of white supremacy and misogyny?

Agreed. With census data showing the White (non-Hispanic) population falling below 50% between 2040 and 2045 and Under 18’s already being majority minority…I’m sure this is only the beginning
