I would recommend Klickitat, he is in CA. Very nice mover, big dressage type. I have a mare in foal to him. Hoping for a big moving, big boned, dressage type.
sorry to hijack but coincidentally, according to Watchman PRE’s facebook page, on 1/9/12 Fugitivo XII died “from a tragic accident in his stall”. He was a magnificent stallion! It;s an inconceivable loss for the breed in North America. Wonder what happened?

I am always confused by these threads. You have a 3 year old mare, you want a riding horse, why don’t you just ride her? Why are you breeding her? Just curious.
I struggle with the same thing from time to time, I am in a weird situation again, struggling with the same question…again. I never really ever come up with a good answer. There are so many nice horses out there to BUY that aren’t just experiments for the hell of it.
Good point. She looks like she’d be a fun ride and do well in dressage; why not give her a try for at least a few years in the show ring. The OP will get a better feel for her soundness & attributes, then find a suitable stud match for her.

I’m also a huge fan of the crosses. I have an Andalusian/TB mare who is just outstanding. She is the best of both worlds: the power and carrying ability of the Andalusian with the athleticism of the TB without being particularly baroque. I’ve been trying to convince my mother to breed her PRE Andalusian mare to a Hanoverian or Holsteiner for several years!

I, personally, wouldn’t recommend an Irish Draught for an Andalusian. I have a 3 year old gelding by an Irish Draught (Rhyd’s SeaQuest) out of my Andalusian/TB mare who is pretty cool, but I would not want any more substance in a sporthorse for most disciplines; he is more Irish Draught than he is his mother, who is actually very refined and built more like a TB than an Andalusian. I find the crosses look more like their other half, so crossed with the right type of stallion, the Andalusian can add something pretty special.
Wow. Surprised to see this thread pop up after a year or so. Myca is going to be 5 in March. She has had 90 days under saddle and is now back home for the winter. I have no immediate plans to breed her. I am so attached to this mare that I am frankly scared to death of the idea of breeding her, for fear of anything happening to her. She is THAT special of a mare. I could never replace her. So since we cannot afford to do any showing in the immediate future with her, she will just enjoy growing up (she is still very much a filly at almost 5- a typical late maturing andalusian) and at some point she will go back for some more training and possibly showing with my trainer. Her job for now, is to be a sweet babysitter for my weanling Sir Gregory filly!!!
