Identify this bit?

I have googled and googled and not been able to identify what this bit is? Does anyone have any knowledge? It’s very interesting looking.

I know I have seen this bit somewhere - maybe in Polo? Is that a brand insignia on the mouth piece?

It almost reminded me of an old Mickmar but I can’t find anything like it. Where’s you see it?

Wonder how it rides, what the mouthpiece looks like, and what you would use it for.

A jumper on the west coast wears it - unfortunately I can’t zoom in far enough to get a clear view of the brand.

Rider doesn’t seem to know what it’s called, though did comment that it’s a Mullen mouth.

Looks like a Sam Marsh D ring:

Yes, that looks right. Interesting bit.

Seems like the rein should be attached to the large/main ring of the bit?

If the reins were attached to the large/ D-shaped ring, the mouthpiece would be free to rotate in the mouth, even with contact on the reins. With the reins attached to the small ring, if there is any contact at all, the mouthpiece CAN NOT rotate.

I presume that is the intention.

Not that EXACT bit, but similar design of the rings. I wonder if the mouthpiece design is also similar.

Only mouthpiece I have seen with those rings, be it on a d ring or a pelham (more commonly seen, sometimes referred to as a “polo bit”)
