Identifying a Black Country Model

I just got a used BC dressage saddle. The nailhead is stamped with the BC logo but the flaps are unmarked where the model would normally be. I think this is an older saddle, but would like to know the model. It has the serge panels. I think it looks like an Eloquence but not sure. Here are a few photos http://s183.photobucket.com/user/jklfarm/library/Black%20Country

Lucky you for getting serge panels.
I own one of these unmarked mysteries. And all of a sudden I am seeing them everywhere for sale.
Here’s what I know. I bought mine advertised to as an Eloquence. But by the looks of the design on the knee patch, I would say it’s an Eden. Edens tend to have a curvier tree so I took the saddle on trial to see if it would fit my curvier pony and viola! It fit, so I would say Eden. I also saw another one recently for sale, same looks, no serial number and the seller said that is was visually identified by Black Country themselves as an Eden.
It could be a custom, possibly just built with Eden looks and an Eloquence tree, idk… depends on how it fits your horse. Keep these things in mind when you go to sell if you have to some day.
For whatever reason the people I bought mine from decided it was an Eloquence, but I’m sticking to it being an Eden.

Thanks that was helpful. I also emailed Black Country. Thanks again!

Second an Eden! I have an “eldery” brown Eden while a bit “ugly” a very nice saddle to sit in. The Eloquence I did sit in had a higher/taller cantle the fit oddly on my TB.

Mind you I am envious…The Serge lining is so great for horse back. A lovely saddle

I’m having a brain lapse at the moment and can’t recall the model but it is not likely an Eden although it has an Eden flap. These are older saddles that have a tree similar to their classic dressage tree that is in the Eloquence, Vinici, and so o.

Jay if you happen to remember the model please let us know. I’m intrigued. Do you know why none of these saddles were marked with a number?

I also may get an answer from BC in the U.K. so will share as well!

Maybe the Riley? It definitely does have the Eden flap on it, though.

Yes, it does look like this one http://www.equinenow.com/english_saddle-ad-8767
I was lucky that it happened to be close to me, I drove 1 hour out of my way so no shipping cost and it was under $1000

The Riley but I see someone else knew as well. They do have an Eden looking flap. They usually have cream colored serge so I can’t say for sure. We’ve had the occasional saddle without a stamp.

I got the answer from Black Country. It is an Eden! So most guesses were correct. Thanks!

Just curious if you had a serial number and I’d love to see a photo from the rear.

Jay, it has a # on the flap 4825, that is the only marking other than the nailheads. The back is a rough leather, like suede. I added some photos to the album.

Thanks. From the back it looks more like the Eden as it is more angular but it doesn’t look like the modern Eden from the side. It looks straighter. The gray serge was what had me wondering as the Riley saddles that I have seen have the cream colored serge.
