Identifying a Smuckers harness...

I am looking at a used harness which is advertised as being a Smuckers. The leather is very good quality,so it may be a Smuckers, but did the co. put any identifying marks on there products?
The bridle has a round stamp in the leather that says “quality…” something and then an S stamped in the centre.
Anyone?

I had an older Smuckers pleasure light and I never did find an identifying marking on it, though it was unmistakably a Smuckers by the design (comparing to their sales literature). The leather and craftsmanship was very nice.

I did not look really hard for a stamp though, and I didn’t keep the harness long, so I may have missed it. I don’t recall ever seeing a stamp on the bridle.

maybe check the reins by the buckle. I’ve had a couple harness’ including a hunts that had a makers mark there and no where else. Surely someone here has a smuckers to comment about them!

My Smuckers harnesses are marked on the inside of the bridle, on the near side by the brownand. I can’t remember the exact wording, but it is a S inside of a circle and something about quality. My guess is that you have a Smuckers!

Next question is, how much do these go for? I looked on E-Bay but there was nothing comparable.

The harness is in good to excellent condition, with some cosmetic wear or damage to two of the box keepers.

Thanks, NJR

I bought my cob sized russet harness, in good condition with some minor damage here and there, complete with reins for $450 iirc. Again, mine was a pleasure light, the saddle wasn’t treed, nothing was lined or padded, etc.

The price of any used harness depends on the brand/model/condition

a friend of ours just sold a prime condition - black with brass - Cob/small horse Smuckers Super Delux for only $800
it was a steal
these sell new for $2295

a pleasure lite would probably go from less than $400 since they are only 695 or so new
