*IF* Canada medals - our first of the Olympics
Pssst Roan, Hull is actually Gatineau now, and is in Quebec.

Kemptville is not in the City of Ottawa. Close, but it’s part of Leeds & Grenville, North Grenville to be exact.
As far as I know, Hull has always been part of Quebec, but phone books and TV Guides from the 60s and 70s always had the listings for “Ottawa/Hull”, so I tend to include them together.

I’m old, what can I say

WHen did it change to Gatineau? I’ve been in the States since '94, so I’m a little out of touch.

Eileen

If you remember phone books from the 60s you’ve got a couple of years on me Eileen  but old, naww!! The Ottawa/Hull thing is more a reference to the National Capital Region. Don’t know why they do that.

Hull became Gatineau about the same time the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton (I remember when it was Carleton County  ) became the City of Ottawa. Hull, Gatineau Aylmer and the surrounding environs became the City of Gatineau. Damn amalgamation (sp). Most of my family live in what is now considered part of Ottawa, but about the only improvement  they’ve noticed is an increase in taxes.

Jo

…things you learn: I did not know Texas would fit into Quebec 'till now:)

Go Canada!!! Silver medal in Team Showjumping, our 9th medal I believe now!

Where’s Mac?

Does anyone know why Mac Cone didn’t ride today?

His horse hit a rail during the round yesterday and didn’t come up sound today. Unfortunate, but we still did well!

Congratulations!

Congratulations on the silver! I’m glad for Canada but I’m particularly thrilled for Ian Miller for finally getting an olympic medal!

Go Canada Go!

Woo Hoo! How awesome was that?!

Yay Canada!!! So amazing!!! I’m in love with Hickestead!

Congratulations Canada!!!

Yay…2 medals, I guess I didn’t jinx them!

Our farm is just a stone’s throw from Eric’s (to the north) and Mac’s (to the south). I keep hoping one of their horses will escape one day and wander into our barn!

And that Hickstead will quickly live cover all the mares before he is rounded up?

Ooooooo, good point, Mozart! My mares are going to start living outside 24/7 from now on!!!

Actually, a few years ago, my daughter was having a lesson at another farm in the area, when partway through the lesson we were visited by 2 grooms, lead ropes in hand, inquiring if we had seen a couple of loose horses. Apparently the horses had escaped from Eric’s farm and had run off down the driveway!!! Needless to say, we were all leaving stud muffins and carrots out on our doorsteps that night, in hopes that one of the loose rogues was Millcreek’s Raphael, whom Eric was competing at the time!!!

Hope I don’t get anyone in trouble for telling that story!!!

I think it rocks that Canada did so well, and I hope it means that y’all will have more attention, more money, more national interest in fielding more and better teams more often. We need more serious Canada-US competition!
