If Canada medals in the Showjumping, which fingers crossed they take it all!! It will be Canada’s first medal at the games…and maybe we can finally get some financing for Equestrian events here!!

Canada will medal because it’s going to be a North America & South America sweep:D
Hopefully you haven’t jinxed them with this thread!
OI! Not possible!
Would be so amazingly awesome!
I can barely stand it.

Good luck to you! Canada, our little neighbors to the North, we love you too. Eh?

Well, we aren’t so little (don’t they teach geography in the US???) but THANK YOU!!!
Nice touch with the “eh”!!!
Well, we’re little in population - about l/10th the mighty USA - but we do have an awful lot of north country
Yes, I was speaking in terms of geographical size.
Just makes me giggle because one of the girls I work with is from Texas and REFUSED to believe it when I told her you could fit the entire state into the province of Quebec. Thank you Wikipedia!
I wish the Brits had done better (nice round from Nick and Russell…love them) but I am THRILLED with how we are sitting right now. I want a good result SO BADLY for our team, they really deserve it. I was a little worried about Mac and Ole but could not be happier that I worried for nothing. Mac is such a gentleman and wonderful horseman. I’m so glad we have him on our team. Sorry USA, he’s OURS!.
I really hope they can make it. What a fantastic boost for the sport if Canada’s first (and possibly only, the way were going) came from an equestrian event.
But man, are we dynamite in the winter olympics
IIRC, the US Pledge of Allegiance has that “one nation under Canada” line.
Some people seem to think it’s “under God” but that wouldn’t make much sense.
I’m from USA and yes I’d like for the US to medal, but I have to say I would love for Canada - Ian Millar to bring it home !
Would love to see our team medal in the showjumping of course, but as of this morning we no longer have a medal drought. Cdn athletes delivered a three-fer in women’s wrestling (gold), pairs rowing (silver), and… um… something else (bronze). Sorry, I was half-asleep when my clock radio alarm thingy delivered the news. But my brain was at least coherent enough to think, “Finally!”
we have two in women’s wrestling!
I am sure rooting for the Canadian team, but I have learned not to sell the chicken before they are hatched!!! I hope they are on a winning streak but let’s just keep cheering them on and not add to the pressure!
I would love for Ian to win a medal… after so many Olympics, he deserves one! And I agree about Mac Cone. I love him and found him to be such a gentleman a few years ago at the Royal! Go Canada Go!
PVR is already set to record. I just have to read the instructions as to how to transfer to a VCR tape!

Texans also tend to not believe that Alaska is actually bigger than Texas in terms of land mass…I think they just tend towards delusional.
Oh, you guys must have missed the faux pas during the show jumping commentary
Apparently Ottawa is a province!
I don’t remember who they were talking about, but the commentators were telling everyone that this particular rider and a few others all hailed from/trained in the Ottawa area and how amazing it was that there would be so many good riders from such a small province.
Paraphrased, as I cannot remember exactly how it was worded – I was laughing too hard.
Eileen
Next time you have to deal with a Texan getting all uppity and bragging, just tell them that one could split Alaska in two and Texas would be the 3rd largest state in the Union.
Gets 'em every time.

The really sad part is that Ottawa as a CITY encompasses a huge part of Perth (Ian Millar) North Grenville (jill Henslewood) and the commentators where close but no cigar…you’re right, Ontario is the province and Ottawa is the capital…BUT imagine having TWO Olympic caliber barns within 20 minutes of you…pretty cooll!!!

Nod, I know I’m from Ontario. Guelph, to be precise. My dad (deceased) and the rest of that side are from Ottawa. Some in Kanata. Some in Hull. Barrie. Burlington. All over Ontario.
I remembered after I posted who they were talking about and it was during Jill’s ride that they made the comment. Jill is new to me, Ian – I’ve been an Ian fan forever.
Eileen
Pssst Roan, Hull is actually Gatineau now, and is in Quebec.
Kemptville is not in the City of Ottawa. Close, but it’s part of Leeds & Grenville, North Grenville to be exact.
