For dressage, probably not a baby but a mature, trained horse… Where would you look?
Breeders? Trainers?
I’d start here or move to Vermont:

Where are you? There are several breeders in California that have bred for sport over the years. Some are no longer breeding, but their horses are still out there - Dragonfire Farm, Wintergreen/Woodland Stallion Station were both long time sport horse Morgan breeders, horses competing both Open and at Morgan shows. Merriewold Morgans, hmmmm, I’m sure there are others.
BTW, don’t just limit yourself to sport bred - I had a little English pleasure/halter bred Morgan who was fabulously talented. He didn’t have enough “action” for his breeding, so he was sold and trained for western and hunter pleasure before I got him. FABULOUS canter, lofty trot, his walk was short, but pure. Unfortunately he got cataracts early in life - I think he was an FEI prospect (and so did the trainer and clinicians I worked with).
They are a great sport horse breed, I love a nice Morgan!
You might as quietann as I believe she has bought a Morgan filly from a breeder so she might have some good ideas.
I’m looking for my last horse…will be retiring my current and well loved tide in a year or two and I’ve always wanted a Morgan .
Lauren Chumley and Cindy Wylie have both ridden morgans or morgan crosses at GP level. I’d look at where they got theirs from as they have had a lot of success with them.
If you want started but not finished I would look at the Miner Institute in Chazy NY. Very good quality horses, lightly but well started. That’s where I bought mine a year ago and I LOVE him, he’s fancy, smart and a super nice mover. Also, if in New England Nancy Caisse in MA has a farm FULL of really, really nice morgans.
Well just to clear things up, I ended up selling my filly back to the breeder recently. It’s hard to describe why, beyond “no bond”, but I was nothing but relieved when I made the decision. She is a LOVELY filly, very athletic, highly trainable… but for someone else. The breeder has her up for sale, and she will be started under saddle next spring when she is 3. She is wearing tack now.
Anyway – others have made some very good suggestions about where to look. Morganshowcase.com is another website; it’s more oriented toward the show world, but they have had some nice dressage Morgans listed.
To buy a Morgan ready to go out and compete at a higher level tomorrow will be very expensive. OTOH there are some nice ones out there who are early in their dressage careers, or older and just green. So think about what you want. As with any horse, start with “a good brain.” There are some hot-n-crazy Morgans out there, but mostly they are just way more “peppy” than a lot of horses.
My mare’s breeders have a few for sale; not a lot has been done with them for the past few years, because Life Happens, but there may be some diamonds in the rough that need a refresher. And I should say that the one I ended up with is probably the “worst” they have bred as she is not that sound… but the other horses they have bred are doing really well.

Wow, those are some nice looking morgans!
Maybe where Denny Emerson got his Morgan?

Courage of Equinox was sire and grandsire of the Morgans that Cindi Rose Wylie competed.
I looked at miners institute website…wonderful looking horses! Thanks for the info.
This stallion:
Is producing some nice babies.
Blue and White Morgans has some for sale.
I would email Denny and ask for help!
They are a wonderful breed, with some individuals great and some not as much, just as in any other breed including warmbloods. Good luck on your search!
I would second Nancy Caisse, some amazing horses with great minds. She also has a huge selection but probably more young horses than those that are started.
Also Andrea Chickering in Walpole NH at Meadowair fFrm breeds some BIG beautiful horses. They aren’t necessarily started with “sport” in mind but all her horses have great minds and are nice movers.
You could also try touching base with Scott Toleman of Shooting Star farm. He breeds Dutch horses for dressage but I believe he’s had a few Morgans over the years.
I personal recommend the Morgan/Dutch cross I happen to have one that I bred who I ADORE. He’s simply perfect in my personal opinion lol
I believe Madeleine Austin at Imajica has a Dutch/Morgan large pony that’s probably 9 or 10yrs old and is absolutely AMAZING. Not sure if she’s still for sale. Liz Austin has a few clients with Morgan’s all the way up to Grand Prix I believe; so she might be someone to reach out to as well.
Denny is a great option for help but it’s his opinion or nothing so don’t be offended if your thoughts don’t line up…

I second this- I’ve been there and have a friend who purchased a filly from them.
