I figured out how it works. It doesn’t eliminate the poster from the thread like it used to but you will not get a notification from that poster if they quote you.
That being said for the first time ever I really wish it would work like it used to.
Sounds like a relic from functional ignore. According to vBulletin, ignore is broken deep in the code and will not be coming back any time soon. The behavior you’re seeing would probably be classed as a bug, not a feature :-/
