This is a looong stretch but I wanted to see if anybody’s heard of this horse I knew growing up. I rode him as a kid when he was fresh off the track and he was sold without a hint of where he went. I think about him all the time and wonder what ever happened to him. If anybody knows, I’d love to hear about it!
I called him Ralph but his jockey club name was I’llfindmywayhome. He was a 2001 gelding by Meadow Monster. He raced 5 times I think, mostly at Aqueduct, and I don’t believe he ever did better than dead last. He ran with his head straight up so he had quite a ewe neck. Bright bay with a small star and a snip that partially covered his right nostril. He was tall -maybe 16.1 or 16.2 - rather lanky when I knew him but I’m sure he grew into it. No other white on him, and he had low black points with lots of light bay hairs mixed in. He could pin his ears and act like a monster on the ground but if he liked you, he was just the sweetest horse. I do remember he had a bad attitude about his right hind quarter being messed with and I wonder if he had an injury there that went unaddressed by his owner. I adored him. I don’t have a clue as to where he went, but he was sold from a small farm near Basking Ridge, NJ right after Christmas 2004 I think.
I realize this is probably one of the longest of shots, but I’d just love to find out what ever came of this horse (hoping it was something good). Thanks, all!
