I'm officially crazy.... Update - We Rode!!!
I hope he is everything you want/need plus more!! Good luck, keep us posted on his progress :)
I will definitely post updates! I think what I’m most excited about is that I don’t need or want anything specific from this guy. I’ve got two lovely dressage horses, one at upper levels, the other just started under saddle… So this guy’s destiny is really up to him. If he wants to be a dressage horse, awesome! If he wants to get me back into eventing, super! Or foxhunting, trail riding… Shoot - I’ll buy him a western saddle and work cows! It’s all good with me  I think it’s going to be very fun to create goals as we go dependent on what he enjoys.

Now to go get his quarantine stall and paddock set up… Had a dream he showed up unannounced in the middle of the night

And this is what identifies one as a true horseman/woman.

I’m very excited for you two and to hear your updates.

1Your dream gave me chills. Surely this is a match made in Heaven. I hope both your and his dreams come true and I feel they will. Can’t wait to hear more about him. He is probably the luckiest horse alive today, with your joyous plans for him.
What fun!

OP, that is such a cool approach to figuring out what his career will be. I’m so glad you picked this guy up.
Have fun!

I vote Thoroughbred too. One of mine gets more feathers than that, especially in the winter.

Good luck to you! Your horse already has the good luck that you bought him!

I see the TB too - nice looking guy!! Keep us updated with pics too!!
Thanks for the rescue.

He’s beautiful! What a kind face. I see TB, doesn’t look like enough rear to have QH in there. Lovely.

That is what I was thinking, nor typical muscle definition for qh.

He is adorable! I too have gotten bitten by the auction bug many times, mostly at New Holland. Once I rescued a totally broken down TB who was out of a mare I bought who coliced and died before I got a foal out of her. Another I bought from the meat man because his name was Stretchyourfaith. I couldn’t leave him a horse by that name in the kill pen!

Cute guy! I’d say not TB, looks classic QH to me. I like his shoulder, so “nice movement” sure seems within reach.
My first thought upon seeing him was QH. He is put together nicely and I can see why you want to take the chance with him. Good luck.

He looks like at least part TB to me, and all good looking. I’m looking forward to your updates on what he does with his life.

He looks good.

You should pat yourself on the back for pulling him out of the kill pen. The other horses were not so lucky as he.

He’s a neat looking dude! Good for you, OP! Please keep us updated. I love stuff like this. Too cool.

Well, I have a guaranteed full, unraced TB who looks quite a lot like this guy, feathers and all. He’s 9. So I’d say he’s probably at least 1/2 TB.

Love the way he is put together.

Very much looking forward to updates as you start your journey

Looks very TB to me.

Just got word that Jango will be arriving this evening! I’ve got his quarantine paddock and stall all ready for him with plenty of fluffy bedding and a big ol’ pile of hay waiting  I will of course update with photos as soon as I’m done loving on him tonight…

I also emailed the professor at Texas A&M and got instructions back to get a genetic profile. It’s only $25 so I think I’ll send it off next week just for fun. It’ll be cool to learn a little more about him. Thank you for that link Texarkana!

I kinda see TBxpony. Cutie pie anyway. Best of luck with him!

Can’t wait to hear updates. I thought I had some pics of him from the sale but it was a different gelding. So glad he’s got a good home.

Sorry about the delay - he didn’t get here until 8PM last night and I had a horse to ride this morning between my many showers (thanks to quarantine and my paranoia :))!

The good: He’s a tad thin but far from starving, I have a feeling he’s going to be an easy keeper. He’s eating and drinking, settled right in, and his coat doesn’t look half bad. He is an absolute sweetheart and has taken everything in stride in an amazing way. Last night he even followed me around the perimeter of the fence and his ears shot forward when I got home from riding my boarded horse this morning

The Bad: He is VERY snotty… I haven’t heard much coughing but we’ve definitely got strangles or some other respiratory issue happening. Not surprising coming from where he did - I pretty much counted on it. I sealed off his stall before he got here but I’ve decided to move my other two out to the pasture to put even more distance between them just to be safe. Vet is coming out today to do a check up and give everyone immune booster shots. We’ll decide whether to put him on antibiotics or let it run it’s course. His feet are also very long, but not elf slipper long so that’s good. I felt bad calling my farrier and was going to wait until his respiratory issues cleared up but Jango’s first good samaritan has come along. Come to find out an old Pony Club/Eventing friend is engaged to a farrier and he has done all of her rescues so he’s fine with disinfecting afterward. Not only did he offer to come out today, he’s trimming him for free! The universe is smiling on this little guy this week!

All in all the little dude looks pretty good considering. He’s incredibly cute - can’t wait to get an idea of how old he is when the vet is out. Now that he’s here I’m even more mystified by what his breeding might be… Depending on the angle I see TB, QH, I may have caught a hint of Arab… Will be very interesting to get his results back from Texas A&M!

So without further ado, here he is:
