Roslyn and Rizada come out into the world today

Wonderful how the foal approaches, double checks back with dam and then advances, accepting, low headed, a relaxing behavior, into contact.
We used to work on facilitating that with our stance, some times retreating a bit, unless that foal was full of itself, then it would be inviting hard play.
The least resistances best for domestic horses.

@eightpondfarm I’m loving following this thread & seeing your vids

Hazel is nonplussed with guineas. They fly(ish) overhead, they screech, they walk-around and they aren’t much of a concern anymore.

Look at that proud little bugger! It’s like he’s striking a pose for the camera.

Here’s a little humility for him… “foal halter” yeah-rite…so it’s back to the sheep halter, which is getting too small Hey, i know…maybe i’ll ‘graduate’ him to a llama halter.

get a miniature horse halter? The ones we have are like a real horse halter just scaled down

He does look like he is trying to figure out how to get that thing off

Roslyn comes out of the birthing stall and feels the sun and air for the very first time.

Beautiful babies! And beautiful mommas! You need to post these on the other thread about how a mare looks after foaling. The DHH thread.

Heh. That’s funny.

Especially because these were essentially unplanned breedings and the mares and foals look better than the planned breedings from that particular breeder on that thread.

The curly foal, Hazel, is just too cute. Roslyn has such interesting markings. So glad that everything is going well with them.

Someone said that they look like Clydesdale markings, but I think that they are fairly common in sabino pinto patterned horses (including some Clydesdales.) I did an image search for sabinos when someone mentioned it above, and I was surprised. Here’s some info.

Ok! I love posting photos of these guys. But what is “DHH thread”?

Here is when Brenna took Hazel out into turnout. She showed him all three creek crossings and warned him about the two pitfalls (fallen branches…WHICH i subsequently cleared off the ground and cut a bigger swath beneath and other is a dugout in the gravel from a big swash last rain) Brenna is very smart and communicative. And Hazel just took to all the new things as if they were nothing. WHICH IS GOOD because their at-large pasture is quite wild.

Many bits of boundless enthusiasm and then Plop! and snore, then up and sup…then runnnnn!!! again. He just drops and is immediately in deep sleep and Brenna stands watch over him. She’s a pretty hot horse, but she’s an excellent mom. She reminds me of my own mother, athletic, smart and verrrry easily agitated.

It’s on the Hunter/Jumper forum. About a lady that is crossing Dutch Harness Horses with hot jumper sires using ICSI. And she hasn’t taken very good care of recipient mares or the babies. It’s a long discussion.
