Did you know just how important ‘politics’ were to horses? Indeed, it’s true. Everything is parsed. Who goes first, and how soon you can follow is excruciatingly important. Roslyn does NOT like it!

That’s a remarkable slice of horse life you captured!

The hmmm I think I’m interested in the weeds over here by the fence… while I’m …waiting …

Roslyn cracks me up. She is just a ball of energy! It’s been so interesting to watch all your videos. Thank you for sharing with us!

Roslyn is an emotional horse. She’s reallly sweet and cuddly, AND she has a temper!! Roz is going to need a person who loves mares. I think she wants a higher status than her mother has. She’lll get it too once she enters the herd. Just being an ingenue will gain her a golden ticket. There are waaaay more geldings out there than mares.

Hazel is going to be a superbly confident and respectful horse one day. I have high hopes for his success in Life.

Me, too! I have stereotypical chestnut TB and Paint mares and love that sort of personality!

One of mine is nearly 25 now and is still known as the Evil Princess. When she was a yearling I had my trainer come in twice a week to help me with her ground manners and to learn how to long-line, and Rosie would hear her car coming into the parking lot and start pinning her ears and grinding her teeth because she knew she was about to have to actually behave for the session instead of just dealing with her wishy-washy owner!

It’s fortunate that Roslyn is growing up right there with Brenna. Knowing all the ways of the herd’s boss mare will be an advantage once they all join the herd.

I had a homebred pony named Nuisance. I always said it’s a good thing she was foaled to people that made sure she behaved and could deal with her attitude - there is no way she would have made kids riding pony. She was an awesome driving pony for adults, but would take advantage of kids in a heartbeat.

Whew!
Just got caught up on all the vids :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Thanks.
Your study of the Herd Politics between these mares & foals is fascinating to me.

So sorry to be late to hear of your loss.

My ‘supervisors’ while i cleaned the barn yesterday. Hazel is such a confident guy. He’ll just plop down anywhere, anytime…trusting that his asleep body is safe as can be.

He ALMOST got up, but changed his mind and plopped down flat and immediately made little baby snorey sounds :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Roslyn is not easily caught napping however. Her mother, Rizada, is a MUCH more flighty mare.

The two curly mares and foals have 24/7 access to pasture and barn. Their habit is to go graze at early dawn, come in around 9 or 10 and hang out in the barn all day long (where there is a lot of hay and alfalfa) and then go back out in the evening and graze til dark.
Here they are…getting ready to go out

and here they are entering the pasture
