In need of referrals (Millbrook, NY or nearby) for some barn repair and fence work...

We’re about to do some work on a small residential property in Millbrook, NY area. The barn is in disrepair but not severely so. The fencing (in its current state) needs some repair – but we’re considering having it replaced (we think a landscaper installed it - it’s not the sturdiest, et al).

We were going to do some of it, but our schedules are making it impossible, and it has to be done before April.

Anyone here, local to that area, who can send me some referrals, especially for doing the barn work? It could probably be completed in under a week, I’d surmise. Not sure I want to contact one of the biggies like King Barn for obvious $$$$$ reasons. But I want a contractor who knows what they’re doing.

maybe try Double O builders in Ft Plain? they built my indoor and have built a bunch of barns in my area, and do a great job (plus - they are horse people!) Mennonites - prices are incredibly reasonable too!

Timex, thank you! I will definitely reach out to them to get some info. It’s a pole barn so this would be a super easy job… do they also do fencing or just barns?

I don’t know if they do fencing as well, but it’s worth asking! (they seem to do everything else, from farrier work to selling horses to excavation work to building, so… I tend to think it’s a definite possibility!) when you talk to Elmer, the owner, tell him you got the referral from Hidden Spring Ranch.

I might be moving to that area in the summer and will be starting from scratch. If either of you have hard figures, I would love to know what a fence will cost in that area.

Sorry, that’s not terribly helpful. But it is an expensive area.

I live one town over, I’d be happy to help if I can. Most contractors are one man shows. I highly recommend John Crawford, Overmountain Builders, and Tom Tiedemann, Black Horse Builders. I believe John Kading is in Millbrook and does good fencing.
