In search of a dynasplint for a windswept foal to rent or purchase

If anyone has one they would rent or sell to me, please text or call me at 813-355-7178. I don’t check pm messages much. Or, if anyone knows how to reach a rep in Ocala! I called the company and their equine person is out on leave and they were less then helpful! If I could reach a rep that would be great! Thanks!!

Bump!

Morgen Flynn (here in Virginia) may know. Let me send her a message.

Morgan and I connected. Still working on finding one!!!

Dynasplint have been pretty much dismissed for use with foals, horses in general. I have discussed this with several of the “experts” in the field of TB breeding.

Most things resolve with time I and others have found. Especially “windswept”. Post some pictures and I will be happy to comment.

This is a link to our FB page called Foals with issues. Before and after. To give people an idea of how things hopefully will turn out. This is also in a thread I stared in Horse care.

Generally I agree they will straighten up but you can get damage if the cubodial/tarsal bones are soft --if they are soft and the foal is windswept and moves around on them early when they are crooked it may wedge them. An x-ray will show the state of the bones–I had one that straighten up fine but we discovered at three he had a wedged bone in one hock because of this temporary state of bones when first born. So no matter that he straighten up.

Out of curiosity, what was Morgen’s opinion?

I sent Morgan some pictures, but she hasn’t replied yet. The bones on xray look great, and I will check out the Facebook page, thank you!

 So glad about the bones! His mom had colic the day he was born and I shipped her to a clinic – unfortunately no one of three vets said–lets do an xray on the foal–was thought mom’s condition might have caused the delay in the bone hardening… He did straighten up great with limited exercise after 6 weeks but the damage was done and not discovered for three years only by accident.
