Indoor Arena Footing? Suggestions?

Ok, so I am needing some suggestions on what would be the best footing for an indoor arena.

Arena is 125x106 and we are in a cold climate NorthWest PA about 20min from Erie. Manily going to be used for Dressage but will have other boarders, so a great all around footing with mid to heavy traffic.

Thanks

A new farm in Mendon just installed some new footing that is a waxed sand (and heaven only knows what else) and supposedly never needs to be dragged or watered. They’ve only been up and running a few months so there is probably no way of determining if it really doesn’t need water or dragging. You could contact them to find out what they use and where they got their footing.

I used mason sand in my indoor 24 yrs ago and added rubber from Footings Unlimited about 8 yrs later. My footing is still good but it’s never had hard use over the years with usually only 1 or 2 horses per day in the winter months.

Check out http://www.arena-rehab.com they aren’t local to you but have some of the best footing I have ridden on. They should be able to put you in contact with someone in your area.

We have shredded leather and it is wonderful! The horses all feel absolutely amazing on it.
