I get mine from my brother’s landscaping and tree nursery business. They are definitely the hardy version of pallets as they have to hold at least a ton of stone per pallet.
another source of inexpensive lumber is to call your local lumber yards and ask if they have any cull lumber. my MIL has made a habit of calling around every few weeks and seeing which lumber yards have what, she’s built up such a collection of random lumber (and metal sheeting, too) that we have built run ins, an equipment barn, a hay barn, a carport… only problem is, it ain’t always the straightest.
Good point, Timex-that chicken coop I mentioned was built from T1-11 that we got an extremely good deal on in the back lot of the lumber yard. We got about four full pallets of misc plywood/siding for $250. I joked about calling our place T1-11 Acres for a while!

Thank you for the speech.
Would you like every last detail so you can unwad your panties? Or shall we assume that no one is really stealing anything here and I did not feel it warranted a huge long descriptive post of all the details with the company and the supplier?

That was pretty unnecessary. I was just trying to make you aware of something you may not have realized. I certainly wouldn’t have expected you or your husband to know that this might be an issue if his employer is telling him he can take the stuff. If you are comfortable with it, carry on.
