Info on Metall?

I came across a gorgeous horse who happens to be showing successfully in the hunter ring by Metall. I’m curious to hear more about Metall, is his semen very good? What is he known to pass on?

Metall semen is very good. He passes on a lot of good stuff but also small size.

My Elite mare Nina had a 2000 foal by Metall. She is currently showing hunter and jumpers and is 17.2.

I think Merijane Malouin bred to him several times.

This guy is 15.3H

having seen him at the stallion approvals I liked him a lot
I am surprised (since he passed the stallion testing some time ago) that their webpage still says “he will be attending the stallion testing”.

I have a 4-year old Metall mare – she is 16.3 – like any stallion, Metall’s only 50% of the height equation.

A little more info for you: He is an extremely well shaped stallion with a long neck, beautiful head and balanced movements. Metall’s offspring often inherit his conformation and a high degree of quality and refinement. They tend to be built very uphill and have beautiful heads. Their movements show much power in the hind legs, lots of elevation in the front legs, and they have supple backs. Metall achieved the highest marks for the ¨M ¨ year stallion testing. He was champion of the 2001 Indoor Brabant Stallion show with offspring examination. During several stallion competitions in 2001, Metall was first at Groesbeek and Weert, second at Hengelo and reserve champion in the finals at Den Bosch.
His approved son, Special D, continues to compete very successfully at the stallion competitions. Special D sired one of the highest priced offspring at the 2008 KWPN stallion selection which was auctioned for 125,000 euro. Daughter Rabiola (owned by Iron Spring Farm) was Grand Champion in 2006 at Dressage at Devon, 3rd in the National Mare Keuring in Holland, and Reserve Champion at the mare show in Brussels. Vodarijk, is a Metall daughter who took 3rd place in the 2006 Pavo Cup 4 Year Old Division, and was 2005 Reserve Champion at the KWPN Mare Championships.

Our mare was high-point dressage mare of her keuring, and Top Five in the 2008 KWPN-NA tour. We are fans here!

I think he can be all over the place with size. I have seen two really big ones (out of a very small mare) and one really tiny one (don’t know what size the dam was)

A friend of mine has a mare by Metall out of a Donnerhall mare. She is not big - 16h, I believe - was ridden to 2nd Level dressage, and was one of the highest scoring non-Hanoverian mares on the AHS tour a few years ago. She has also scored up to 80% at breed shows.

Old Thread, looking for further updates on quality of offspring?

Now that a few more years have passed, I’m bringing up this old thread to see if there has been more consistent information gathered on his offspring? And pictures would be wonderful too.

I’d love more info on this stallion. I’m REALLY considering him for my Capitol I line mare.

Metall’s approved son Special D is now standing in the USA. I bred my mare to him last year and produced a First Premium KWPN-NA foal.

I’m from Europe so would be more interested in the big guy himself (=

But I have seen pictures of Special D - WOW!

I have two Metall daughters. One out of an Argus mare that is larger 16.2 hands and good bone. the other out of an Equador mare that is 15.3 hands. Love them both!

I saw Metall at P.S stallion station a few years ago, he is very light and on the smaller side it seemed.
