Inside Nature's Giants: Really Interesting; a Little Gross

Glimmerglass’ video on Red Rum brought up this really interesting video on youtube:

Beware if you are squeamish. The video involves a necropsy of a racehorse with interesting explanations of function of parts of the body. The video includes history of the Thoroughbred.

I was a little grossed out when they cut a tendon under stress, but it is a good illustration of what happens when a horse over reaches.

That was really fascinating. Thanks for posting it.

Absolutely riveting! I just watched the whole thing. Nothing says “Happening Friday Night” like watching an equine necropsy.

When they removed the heart, my hubby, looking over my shoulder, commented how gross it was. It hadn’t even occurred to me to be grossed out–I was too busy being fascinated.

(Perhaps I should buy overreach boots…)

The lungs were what got me. Intellectually you know they should be big but you never realize that they are BIG. Same for the heart.

Probably something I would never had thought to watch if it hadn’t been posted. Thanks again.
