Literally what horse do you want to know about?
I am completely unfamiliar with Ouragan: he is an atypical stallion in the sense he never even won a race. Those horses don’t often make it to stud. He’s from a family of successful European runners, but even still, a pretty unlikely candidate for breeding despite his expensive pedigree.
His sire, Gone West, was one of the most popular of this day. He was a precious stakes winner who went on to be a hot commodity as a sire, with his stud fee going as high as $150K. He was a thick, good looking horses. Almost quarter horsey, but his offspring were surprisingly versatile. Gone West doesn’t come up all that much in upper level eventing, but surprisingly often in steeplechasers.
Will’s Way just had that classic TB look about him. He was a very successful racehorse, winning multiple G1 races. He was an okayish sire in NY before being pensioned to Old Friends. Going back in his pedigree, that boy is bred to jump with Alydar and Hoist the Flag, two prepotent sires of sporthorses. Emily Beshear’s former 5 star horse “Here’s To You” is by Will’s Way.
Fit to Fight was a good racehorse and all but I think what’s most impressive about him from a sport perspective is that he had a son approved for breeding in Germany who went on to sire major Grand Prix horses.
