Installing trailer mats to walls?

I just recently bought a 24ft on the floor Aluminum stock trailer by Cherokee.

I did not have the factory install the rubber kick mats to the wall (wishing I would have now). Has anyone ever installed their own kick mats? How did you go about doing that? What rubber did you use and where did you buy it?

I need to cover both walls (48ft total) with 4ft high mats and then the front as well. Still thinking in what to do for the floor

Can’t help you on where to buy the material. That would be a local source. But I can tell you that this is not an easy DIY if you want it done right and withstand wear and tear. Depends on experience and tools on hand.

ABS panels (hard plastic) is a much better product for trailer walls. Rubber will get goughed out if you have kickers. All 4 of my trailers have had ABS panels and they all looked brand new after many years of hauling. It can be screwed into the trailer walls.

When a horse kicks the wall, it basically deflects the hoof and doesn’t even leave marks.

That’s a really good idea! Though I’d suggest HDPE instead of ABS for better performance at cold temps. ABS can get brittle.

If you have a tractor supply store near you they have the rubber - usually in their outside yard next to the rubber mats. If you decide to go w/the rubber on the walls use washers between the screw head and the rubber - they will help support the rubber. I’d get self tapping screws. I found this to be a VERY easy project to do and I’m not known for being very skillful w/a screw driver.
