InsulinWise

I’ve heard that InsulinWise loses its effects over the course of a few months; have others found data on this/experienced this?

I can’t speak to this, but I can share that I tried InsulinWise after having horses on Metabarol successfully. The insulin levels went up while on InsulinWise, so we went back to Metabarol, and insulin levels went back down.

My gelding had a mild case of laminitis last spring when the grass was especially rich. He was put on it immediately and made full recovery in a short time. Now that my pastures are dormant, I stopped feeding it and will start again in March. It worked very well over the five months it was used. Have you talked to your vet about this?

So, Metabarol is almost $6 a day. It better work.

I will ask the vet, who prescribes the InsulinWise, about the long-term efficacy, but in my experience the vet will give some noncommittal answer.

If I remember correctly, veterinarians get some sort of reimbursement from the company that makes InsulinWise; the company is quite open about it. Metabarol has significantly more resveratrol in it. I’m not recommending one over the other- just sharing my experiences.

And, yes, it’s expensive😳.
