Insurance for One Day Dressage Clinic

Good morning! We are hosting a one day clinic on our private farm and can’t seem to get even equine insurance specialists to understand what we are doing. The clinician has his own insurance. We got a quote for $175 for a one day “show”.
Is this the normal insurance cost to host a one day clinic? Is it higher because we aren’t a business?
Thanks for any feedback.

Insurance coverage should come from the company that insures your farm. Prices vary. I have had outraged potential attendees because I tacked on extra $ cover the cost.

It does help that the clinician has their own insurance.

Both clinician & hosting farm should have insurance, liability at least.
Can host’s insurer not add a limited rider for the day?
How would coverage differ from that for a 1-day show?

Just to clarify our farm home insurance doesn’t cover events like this so I had to so with a company they work with. I’m thinking of contacting Markel for next year.

Not always, often a different company covers for one day shows. Markets that insure homes and farms don’t always offer event insurance.

That price is fair imo.

Where are you located?

My commercial liability was able to cover a show I was managing but not hosting. Cost was $450 for 2 days, so $175 seems on par for a 1 day clinic.

175 sounds reasonable if it isn’t from the insurer you are already insured with.

You should also see if the clinician can add you to their insurance as “additional insured”. (As well as, not instead of, your own insurance.)
$175 sounds ballpark. The rate through USEA is, IIRC, $75/day

I used to manage the insurance for a local GMO if they held a one day show or clinic and yes 175.00 sounds right.
