76 on Friday? Seriously?!? Seriously? This darn thing changes more in the course of a day …
Remember that the tiaras are not worn in the hunt field…

They are for the evening soiree!
I thought the tiaras were for my clinic with George Morris - to be worn, all of them, at one time. And maybe one for my horse. This only takes place when we decide to assassinate him by heart attack, of course.

But to be judged on proper hunt attire and appointments (remember when these were called Corinthian classes, ladies?:)) shoot, I want to borrow those checked pants and purple vest! With a little day-glo orange tape strategically placed for the “hunters”, and a few feathers loaned from Cee Lo Green, I should be all set. I may never get a chance to make George scream in my lifetime, but I’ll bet I can floor anyone with wildly inappropriate clothing choices under any circumstances!

And please rest assured, I LIKE the checked pants and purple vest mightily. Not casting any aspersions thereon.

Weather. Yes, We have it.

We never promised consistancy of weather…That’s what makes it soo entertaining to dress for! Just bring everything and a grin. If it is very warm for the day’s high, it will be pleasant for the morning hunt. And it will be excellent for the races and the Princess Party!

All my stuff is washed and folded. I just never considered breaking out the summer gear until now!

I guess I’ll be bringing a whole separate suitcase just for the hunt…or for hunt attire evaluation. 76 degrees and a melton coat will give whole new meaning to the term “hot flash”
If it’s that warm, maybe the hunt breakfast should feature margaritas and some Jimmy buffet tunes

Hunt day is forecasted with a high of 59, so 9 am ought to be fresh enough

Better than rain, 40F, and spitting snow!:lol:

Two more work days until the fun!!! But wait, there’s even more good news!

So, the first good news of the day is that my enamel jack russell pin that Mr Lesson13 had hand painted to match my jack russell and which has been missing for 2 years suddenly appeared when I was trying to find my stock pin!!! I had looked everywhere. Now the stock pin is missing but in the grand scheme a stock pin is easily replaced. I had been seriously bummed about the JR Pin and now he’s back and in time to attend the fox chasing festivities! Yahoo! This is very auspicious!

The second good news is the weather is going to be fabulous!

P.S. has anyone seen my boa?

The third good news is all appropriate headgear including a new proper fitting skullcap, a solid black cover with a brim and a loaner Tiara finally have been procured! And I must say, few things make a gal feel complete like a crown of rhinestones. I am seriously contemplating wearing the tiara to work Wednesday just to see my bosses face!

Finally I had a lesson tonight and it went better than usual like things were falling into place. I don’t want to make too much of it because then I’ll get there and suck but even if that happens I just keep feeling proud of myself for going out and doing something and making progress towards my own little goal. 2 years ago at Easter we went to the Point to Point at Oatlands and I took photos of the gals in the hunt who were helping with the point to point and I wanted to be those gals (I don’t know why; maybe because I’m Irish, or Southern or because my best friend in Elementary school rode and I wasn’t allowed to or because I had some sort of weird identification with Boxer the workhorse in Animal Farm whom I drew obsessively in 7th grade). Two years later I’m going out with the hunt on this little bucket list adventure like I’m some sort of female George Washington. Its dorky but you tell people you are going fox hunting and they are amazed. Like wow, mere mortals can actually go fox hunting. And more than going fox hunting the mere fact of spending almost 2 years working towards this frivolous goal just makes me feel more on the ball than 95% of the people I know.

Anyway enough deep musings from the shallow end of the pool…I don’t know about y’all but I’m so excited about this weekend and my admittedly modest (but still evident) riding progress in general that it will be all I can do to not spontaneously combust before Thursday!!!

Can’t wait to see all of you!!! And again many many thanks to Hunter’s Rest and Whicker for all the organizing. We are going to have such a good time!

I want a full description of Lesson 13 swaggering into work, rhinestone tiara blinding her bosses! This is the stuff of greatly embroidered tales. Please entertain us!
Congratulations on the discovery of the JR pin! Now on to the boa…

Good news that the JRT pin is back. I spent 15 minutes searching high and low for my ratcatchers (not that I need them this weekend, but I know I own them and I wanted to know where they were) and they were hanging under the shirt buttoned to the hanger the whole time.

Yes I get the “Fox hunting” thing all the time too. Thankfully, no one has asked me how I plan to cook it yet.

My Marchness is preventing too much excitement at this point, but I’m working up to it. I’m sure I will forget to pack something. I just hope it isn’t something important like the cookies or my flask.

Lesson 13, Dahlink,

I just re-read your post and noticed an important detail I had missed last night…

Loaner tiara???

How did you arrange a loaner? Best friends with a beauty pagent winner? Rodeo Queen? Sneak into a prom queen’s bedroom and borrow it?(Just throw the clothes around a bit more, so its empty spot isn’t noticed )
Hit the local ballet school wardrobe room?

I really need this information for my own devious schemes…:uhoh::D:lol:

I have spare boas. And they are packed.

Also, I had a great cure for my personal Marchness last night - had a great ride on my Mr. Whiskey. I was doing a lesson and he was feeling great and we decided to jump a few and he was SUCH a happy boy. As soon as he saw the standards come in he cantered up to them, all on his own initiative and stood there “supervising” like, c’mon, y’all, where’s the rest of it? Totally cracked me up. No words, how much I <heart> my boy.

OK, I have my hunting license in my coat pocket
Both release forms. Checkbook for distribution of funds, including cap fee.

Hankerchief, hair nets, safety pins, gloves etc.

Hacking clothes for schooling.

Boot shaft stretcher just in case.

Flask.

Daaahhhhhlings!! Popping in to alert you to the new Must Have for you Spring Hunting Princesses!!.

Ta!

This. Is. Awesome.

Truly.

the shallow end of the pool…

Where I’m most comfortable. And now that I’m comfy, please note that my above post is #333, which is half of a bad, bad thing. Just sayin.

Yesterday’s rain?

We got a 1/2" in Maryland last night, which was too much for today’s fixture, so no Hunting today.

How did you all make out in Virginia? By Saturday our sandy ground will be beautiful. Is it stud sort of mud or is it no-hunting sort of mud in ODH territory?

Fingers crossed

Around my barn and lawn are good. I’m hacking out in a couple of hours, so I’ll report back after dark. Remember I’m higher on the watershed than Hunter’s Rest.

I expect we will be good to go on Sat.

wishing you all fun!

I…Am…So…Jealous…

Unfortunately, a tradeshow has me sidelined for the hunt…bummer…

Hopefully I will be able to have a toast with you all sat night via phone or computer…

The sun is shining here…and last weekend I did break out the lemoncello and tonic for a couple of friends and thought of you all

OK… now I’m starting to get excited.

I don’t get excited that often. Sort of feels weird. It tickles!
