Hello fellow riders and experienced hunters,
I have been very interested in foxhunting and have finally found a few local (within 70 miles) hunts, 2 of which are not sanctioned by MFHA and 1 that is. I was chatting with a friend about attending a hunt and they mentioned that you need to have a hunting license to ride along. Could someone with more knowledge in this field let me know? I live in Chesapeake, Virginia. Thank you in advanceā¦
Yes, you need a license; I think even to car follow.
Go to your local Walmart. $23 for small game (i.e., fox).
You can add big game later, I was told.
Carry it and your insurance card in your helmet. (although I kept mine in my pocket.)
Enjoy, and let us know what happens!
In VA (and probably most states) you can buy a hunting license (and print a copy) online.
Just google āVirginia hunting licenseā, and it will bring up the VA State website for hunting license purchase.
Easy!
