I’ve hunted with Windy Hollow and have lots of friends who are involved with Essex (with whom I’ve paced). My husband and I went to Essex’s Thanksgiving send-off, and it was lovely. Ninety percent non-horse people just enjoying a nice morning in the country.

My first exposure to hunting was when my wife and I lived in Clinton NJ back in the 80’s. We were driving down a back road when we came across two people in red coats in the middle of the road holding traffic. We could hear hounds off in the distance. Then we saw all these people jump a stone wall, continue across the road and jump a coop.

Being a kid that grew up just outside NYC in North Jersey, I had no idea what that was but it looked like fun. I didn’t even ride at the time. Ten years later I was hunting in Virginia.

We were in NJ a few years ago for a wedding back in our old stomping grounds. The development of the area even in NJ was shocking. I ma surprised to see so many hunts still alive there.

Does anyone hunt in South Jersey in the Pine Barrens and those areas?
