Interesting FEI story

I’m not sure exactly what it means, since the withdrawal of Maydan as endurance sponsor at the 2014 WEG could be taken several ways.

I think it can be taken as a move to avoid further bad press. Somehow the “run around” comes to mind. SOBHA? Who owns that entity?

I can only hope that the USEF will not endorse Haya for the third term that she campaigned against. Enough already.

Ah, but they already have. I’m not sure where I read it, but, IIRC,there was an article that John Long, soon to retire (thank God) CEO of the USEF was one of the original sponsors of the petition to get rid of the two term term limit.

“We were told that we would be coming here to seek her resignation, but in reality we’re seeking her return,” United States delegate John Long said in support of the motion at the annual FEI assembly.

She’s been exceptionally good at finding Middle Eastern money. Longines is owned by (I think) Syrians, the Saudis are funding the Nations Cup, and all of the UAE seem to be heavily investing in horse sports. The Longines deal has not gone down well in Europe.

This is true, however the actual vote has not taken place. It will occur in the UAE (what a surprise!) in December 2014.

I thought the vote was going to be in Switzerland at the end of this month during “an extraordinary session of the General Assembly.”

If you read carefully you will see that the ELECTION would take place at the General Assembly in Dubai (See Sheikh Mohammad , ruler of Dubai etc… etc… who is married to princess Haya) ,in December of 2014. The Lausanne vote will be the “extraordinary” vote that would allow Haya be eligible for a third term, going against the “term limits” platform upon which she was elected.[/I]

Gotcha.

If Eventing has been on the cusp of being dropped from the Olympics because courses require so much land, how in the world do they think a 100 mile endurance course would ever be accepted? Pipe dream. Reining would go in before endurance.

I hope Haya still does not plan to run if the rule is changed. During her tenure, eventing and driving have changed beyond all recognition. If Sheik Mo runs Haya, the Germans run the FEI.

I smell another rat…

Definitely time for Haya to go.
