Interesting - re body protectors.
Whether or not one is in favour of air vests, we should probably be careful about making statements like this. Clearly, in this case, the air vest did not CAUSE the injury since it didn’t deploy and therefore wasn’t a factor.
Yep you are right, this is the problem with such little data in relation to falls and injuries and no science. We jump to conclusions. My apologies. The vest still did nothing, so I stand by that statement.

And EventingNation is ignoring Jessica Phoenix’s own statement that her air vest didn’t deploy and continuing to mislead their readers by stating "she was wearing an air vest ", thereby insinuating some benefit.

Dr Whitlock added: “Although it would not be so easy to tag body protectors it wouldn’t be impossible, but it is up to organisers and BE to see if that’s feasible.”

My Rodney Powell vest has a bright purple Beta 3 compliance label stitched onto the front just at my left shoulder. I’m sure other manufacturers could do something similar.

And to confuse the matter more, the comments for the article at http://eventingconnect.today/2015/05/21/jessica-phoenix-left-the-hospital-today-and-is-finally-home/ have the author (TGiesler) saying it apparently deployed after the horse got up per her interview with JP.

If that is indeed the case, then it could have been more of a hazard than a help.

In case anyone was wondering, my Exo has a purple (BETA 3 - 2000) tag. It does have foam around the cage so I wonder how whether it breaking down due to time will affect its efficacy… RAyers, any insight?

My Outlyne has the tag as well. I actually assumed that all the Beta 3 vests did, the way the ASTM helmets have the tag inside.

and another case of not having all the correct information. WHY is it so hard to make this stuff public?
