Intermediate move up

Season got off to a late start which makes me on plan F right now.

One of my horses is looking at an intermediate move up. This late in the season, I’m looking for a good move up course in Area 2 or 3.

Any recommendations for a good intermediate course for a young horse in April/ May?

I think Plantation is generally a good option.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been at the level, but this was always my move up in the spring. The lines are proper but welcoming. It’s a really good gauge on where your fitness is at. I personally used to go with no watch just to get a good feel (not saying this is everyone’s cup of tea).

April or May plantation?

April Plantation… the Plantation events do a great job of getting progressively trickier as the season moves on. I have also used the Horse Park of NJ as a move-up.

We did our Intermediate move up at Chatt Hills (now Bouckaert eventing) in Area III. While their courses tend to be big and solid, they are also usually galloping and not trappy or twisty. We jumped around clear, so I’d say it went pretty well

My knowledge may be outdated as it’s been a few years since I’ve been in Area 2/3, but ditto Highflyer’s suggestion for Plantation. Just wanted to say have a wonderful outing, and keep us updated. Good luck!! :four_leaf_clover:

With the disclaimer that I haven’t ridden at Intermediate-- when I worked for an UL rider all three of the spring HTs were usually on her recommended move up list across the levels. I did the unrecognized Sunday HT in May last year but I walked it on Saturday during the recognized and I thought all the courses rode well and were relatively straightforward.

Unfortunately, I’m a little late to be going to plantation in April in a week and a half. Is the May plantation justice friendly or is it pretty standard for plantation?
