What is the difference between an International Sporthorse and an Oldenburg? Long story short, I have an International Sporthorse with the ISR brand. He was advertised to me as an Oldenburg so I am wondering if they are one in the same. I do know that his sire was a Hanoverian and his dam was a TB. Are these the same bloodlines for Oldenburgs? Just curious. Thanks for your help!
The International Sporthorse Registry and the Oldenburg North America Registry are “owned” by the same people.
Mares and stallions that qualify by bloodlines and scores for the Oldenburg NA registry get approved by the Oldenburg NA registry. Their foals will get the Oldenburg NA brand and go into that registry.
Mares that do not qualify (for either bloodline reasons or because the mare did not score well enough) will get approved and put into the mare books of the ISR registry. Foals from those mares will be branded with the ISR brand and be registered with ISR.
Hope that helps.
