Time for a new helmet and tried on the IRH 4G today it seems to fit pretty well but I’m not finding a lot of online reviews. Anybody use IRH Helmets? Would you recommend them? I’m coming from 8+ years of CO skull caps and have never had an IRH before. Considering this helmet as it might just fit better than my skull cap!
IRH helmets are excellent, but they don’t fit me. I am happy with the couple of CO helmets that do fit my large, oval, head.

Which ones because I have a long oval head and can’t get CO to fit. I have an IRH Elite in long oval I love.
I’ve ridden in them for years and love them! I like the way COs fit, but I always go for IRH, mainly because of the gigantic vents. If they fit you well I would definitely recommend them.
Even among the Charles Owens, there is a big difference in fit for each style of helmet. I wear a J3 because it has a deep fit and does not shift position on my head. There was one other CO that fit me, but it was a very pricey helmet. The IRHs are nice helmets, but tend to slide down over my eyes if they are big enough to go on my head. Finding helmets that fit is hard for those of us with unusually heaped heads!
I love my IRH! I’ve used them for the last 8 or so years.
I’m definitely one of those people with the unusually shaped heads and I’ve had IRHs as my last three helmets because they were the only ones that would fit without looking ridiculous!
I just realized my very first ASTM approved helmet was an IRH in 1989. These days my go to for show helmets is the IRH Elite since they come in Long Oval. So, yes, I recommend IRH I don’t know the helmet you’re thinking about though.
I LOVE mine. It’s like a sneaker for my head. I have the Elite Extreme and Elite Eq
I love mine…been wearing them for years. Apparently they have fallen out of fashion…I had to look hard for my last one!!
Have been riding in an IRH and GPA for years. Won an IRH two years ago and the rep was kind enough to honor the award this week. Just came in the mail. So far, I love the fit. Can’t beat the customer service.

This is me too. I have the IRH Elite and a big long oval head. I’m a 7 1/4, and since I fall between a M and L in so many other helmets I like that it’s sized AT 7 1/4. Love the helmet and the price is still on the low end of the nicer helmets.

I have 2 of the 4Gs. A daily one and a competition/backup one because they are hard to find now. I love them. Most comfortable helmet I’ve ever had and as flattering as I’ve ever seen for my giant head
I’ve been in CO for years and recently tried IRH. The quality was underwhelming, fit wasn’t as good, and the manufacturing process is unreliable (a piece came unglued from a brand new helmet). I ended up going with a One K and I’m super happy: lots of air ventilation, great fit, and it has the washable lining so helmet won’t get stinky.
Count me in as another IRH fan! - they’ve always been very comfortable for my head - including the harness which, for me, can sometimes throw a helmet fit off off for me. Fortunately now it seems people are most concerned about safety, fit, price and then brand.
I rode in an IRH for years. The clip finally broke and I’m sure I had taken a tumble or two in it so I switched over to OneK. Let me just say - I had no idea how uncomfortable that IRH helmet was until I got my OneK. I believe the prices are similar, and the OneK is like having your head in a cloud. It is sooooo comfortable, and they look quite nice too!
Uvex are amazing. Great ventilation. Awesome comfortable dial fit that allows you to layer a hat (winter or summer) underneath. Love and won’t go back to anything else. Now if they could just get MIPS technology in them.
I’m still in an IRH Elite long oval. It is the only thing I can wear.
I am in an IRH 4G, which looks like the helmet you have there.
I actually didn’t realize until I’d been wearing my first IRH 4G for more than a year that it was bad to store helmets in the car, so it spent an entire summer baking in my back seat with nothing like that kind of damage, and I kept wearing until I hit my head in a fall and then replaced it.
That makes me wonder if there was some kind of reflection of the sun off something? like a window glare or mirror? It looks like some very concentrated heat hit that helmet!
My first IRH 4G saved my head! I was knocked silly and had a headache for a bit…no concussion or even a bruise…after a fall and cracking the back of my head on the ground. Later when I took out the liner and inspected the inside of my helmet, I could see where the styrofoam had compressed and the cells had separated. The outside looked completely normal. I now have the new 4G and love it as much as I did the first one!
I emailed IRH after my fall to thank them, they were beyond lovely!!!
